Saturday 8th / Sunday 9th
We put the news on this morning, still no decision on the shuttle. As it is late opening at MK tonight we decide to go to MGM then go to MK later. POR is only a short bus ride away and as the cheerleaders have gone no queue so we are soon walking up hollywood avenue and as DS and DDIL really like Aerosmith they decided to go on RRC and as it is one of my favourites I went on too. We all enjoyed it, then we went over to the TOT. DW declined both of these rides [ she says she has more sense ] Ever since TOT has opened I have never ridden it. My job entails working at height and its the thought of falling that has always deterred me from the ride. As DS really likes this ride and DDIL was going to ride I decided I couldn't be seen to be afraid
So off we went to the pre-show and as there were three of us we were placed in front row. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but when your sunglasses are still going up as you are coming down it is certainly a hair raising experience
.......Not I. We went to view the photograph but there wasnt one on display. DS went to ask about it but some young people on the ride had made "inappropriate gesture" they would not show anyone the photograph. Really annoying as you can never recapture the first ( and last )time look of horror. Did the GMR then wandered over to Star Tours where the two young ones rode whilst I found a seat in the sun. Just missed Indiana Jones so decided to go for lunch at the ABC. After lunch we decided to go to the MK.
We caught the bus to the TTC so we could catch the ferry. I always think the best way to see MK for the first time is from the ferry, catching your first glimpse of the castle and space mountain, and DDIL was suitably impressed. We arrived just in time for the parade and found a good spot to watch upstairs at the railway station, after the crowds thinned out we did the Jungle Cruise our capain was very good and we even heard some new jokes DDIL laughed at them all old and new.
( she didn't know the difference) made our way to POTC which DDIL loved she is a big fan of Johnny Depp.
Strolled through to Tommorrowland did Buzz L and Stitch the Great Escape then chilled out on the TTA.
Went to have something to eat and then made our way back to Fronteirland to find a spot for the evening parade after which we went to the Crystal Palace for the fireworks, the rest of the evening was spent browsing through the shops, finally leaving the park around 11pm
Sunday DW and DDIL decided to hit the shops ( dont worry this wont hurt) so they told me. First thing we went to Prime Outlets (formerly Belz) last year most of the shops were still in one of the old buildings but this year the new shops were open.DW didn't like them she much preffered the old style, she still managed to empty OshKosh buying clothes for our grandchildren though. DS wanted a new leather coat but couldn't get one to fit in Wilsons. The girl in the shop was from Wales and her father came from the North East of England so she recognised our accents and spent some time talking to us. She told DS where to go to get a coat and gave us directions to Orlando Premium Outlets. After DW dissapointment with the new shops we went to the Florida Mall and spent a few hours there as my DW and myself were feeling a little under the weather (aches and pains in backs and legs, I think we are getting a bit old to be tour guides) we only bought our DD a handbag then went for coffee while we waited for DS and DDIL to finish their shopping. We then went to Premium Outlets for DS a coat DDIL bought two and my DW managed to find herself a coat she desperately needed
I bought myself a wallet the same as the one I already had ( empty)
Its a good job we had a people mover for all the shopping bags.
We then went back to the hotel where we had booked for dinner at Boatwrights. I asked what had happened to the 6foot tall wooden Native American Indian that used to be in the food court for years and had suddenly dissapeared and after much conferring the manager came and told us that it was removed for the food courts renovation and hadn't been returned and no one knows where he is !!! So if you see a 6foot tall wooden Native American Indian with a secret mickey on his moccasin please let me know where he is.
