Monday 10th
Off to seaworld today, so after a good breakfast and a couple of cups of coffee,we pile into the car and we are on our way. After the usual from DW "youre in the wrong lane", Me "no I'm not" we arrive at the entry plaza. Now, when faced by a choice of lanes why do I always pick the wrong one (this also happens at supermarket check outs) 3 booths with green lights above them so I pick one line and join in. the guy behind pulls up at a lane with a red light "look at him,the fool can't he see the red light ?" What happens next, he pays his fee and is waived through. Never mind, once parked we go to the entrance especially for the DC returnees and bypass the queue.
The first show is the 10am Clyde and Seamore Show, so we make our way over to the Sea Lion and Otter Stadium, found a seat and watched the mime artist making fun of everyone that came in and causing lots of laughter at other peoples expence, really funny though. The show itself is good as usual and DS and DDIL laughed all the way through.
Next it was the mass exodus as everyone moved over to the Whale and Dolphin Theatre to watch Blue Horizons. We managed to get really good seats and settled down to watch the show. This was a really good show and at the end when all the parrots and a huge eagle are flying over our heads the tears were streaming down DDIL's face. A lady on the way out told her she knew how she felt,we were feeling a bit hungry by now but decided to go and book the Brewmasters Club before making our way to the Seafire Restaurant for lunch.DDIL was asked for photo ID she is 29 (that has never happened to me.)
After a big lunch we made our way to the Shamu Stadium for the Believe Show. The stadium was full as it was the only performance, but we managed to get a reasonable view. They did their usual show soaking lots of people, DDIL was determined not to cry for this one and she just about managed it.
Then we had to make good time over to the hospitality centre for our beer tasting session,we have done this a few times although they have changed the procedure, before they used to give you beer in different stages of production but now it is just beer tasting, still enjoyable. A glass of Bud Select outside in the sunshine topped it off.
Shark encounter next,Turtles,Stingrays ( still no sign of Troy )
then Dolphin Cove. It was almost feeding time and the area was roped off so that just the people who were buying food for the the dolphins were allowed down one side of the cove. Another area was not roped of though no dolphins were there as there was no food for them so unless you buy food you dont get anywhere near them, shame really.
Walked round to DWs favourite, The Manitees. She really loves these quiet, gentle, shy laid back creatures, probably why she married me
Then it was time to go back to Shamu Stadium for the special evening performance of Shamu Christmas Miracles,we arrived in plenty of time to get an excellent seat but really we could have arrived later as the stadium was only 1/3 full by showtime.
The lights were dimmed, the music was playing but the whales weren't. they tried 3 times but they just would not play. The trainer explained they had been upset by another whales calf just before showtime and they wouldn't settle. Eventually they took the two whales to the rear pool and brought two more out.On with the show. we thought we had goood seats at the front of the second section ,but near the end a choir trooped out and at the finale their arms were raised so we couldnt see properly.
Just time to visit some shops as we made our way to the park exit at closing time.Went to the Red Lobster at Crossroads on our way back to POR. Must be subliminal messages making us want to eat seafood after visits to see dolphins etc.
