Please help....we are going to Disney in July for a Vow Renewal. There is me, my DH, 2 DD's and my mom!! Which do you think is best for a family of 5?? The All Star Music Family Suites or the POR with a trundle bed? I've never been a "value resort" type girl, only stayed at Pop Century once, so I don't know if it's better to give up a little space for a better resort atmosphere. Need some HONEST opinions, please! Oh, I've never stayed at either resort so I don't know much about them :goodvibes

I would like to know as well. We are a family of 5 and are going in June of 2009. We stayed at POR in Sept. and we enjoyed the resort but we were a little cramped. I slept in one bed, DH in another bed (he is over 6 feet tall and those double beds are really short), DD slept on trundle and the boys on the floor. They didn't want to share a bed with either DH or me. I also did not like the food court at POR. I love the foodcourts at the values. We did enjoy the boat to DTD, and the waterslide at the main pool, and the theme of the resort. We also had a corner room in a great location close to everything. I just can't decide. Any information on the suites vs POR would be great.

We stayed at POR in 2005 and 2006 and ASMU Suite in 2007. The suite was was worth the extra money. We are going back to the suite this June. The room sleeps 6 comfortably plus having the private bedroom is nice. The two full bathrooms make getting ready in the morning so much easier. Plus the kitchenette is really nice also. minnie61650 is the authority on ASMU suites. I had the same questions last year before I went and she provided me the links below. Lots of good room pics and info. Just paste them into your address bar. The resort is really nice.

Minnie, your timing is uncanny. I was just replying to this thread to provide them with the links/info you gave me last year when all the sudden you already replied. Anyway, we really enjoyed ASMU last year and are going again this year in June.

Thanks for your kind words.
I am so glad your family enjoyed the Family Suites.

It was my pleasure. :)

I am not sure about AP discounts but Disney has included the Family Suites in several of their codes lately.

AAA also has had discounts on the Family Suites.

Keep your eyes open and you just might snag a Family Suite at a great price.

We stayed at POR and it was a beautiful resort and we loved it....but very very crowed in the room-esp with the trundle pulled out. (May work well with very young kids). We will stay in the family suites the next time we go.

The actual cost between the 2 resorts at the time the OP is going is $71 a night, not $30. While you may be able to get a discount on 2 standard rooms at a value, it would still be cheaper than the FS at ASMu, you'd have more room than the FS too with actual beds. Of course you wouldn't have the kitchenette. Happy deciding.

We are DVC members and are staying at the suites in December based on all the info minnie61650 provided before we transfer to our home resort. It looks perfect for a family of five. We stayed at POR with a trundle before and felt quite cramped.

Well, we had the same decision to make as you. We also have 2 dd's and are also bringing my mom. I had really wanted to stay at POR, but since we are paying for my mom's room also, it was more than we wanted to spend (for 2 rooms) due to the Easter holiday rates. We did not want to be all crowded into 1 room and 1 bathroom. So, we are staying at 2 rooms at POP and my mom and older dd will be in the connecting room. We opted not to get the ASMU suite b/c I know my mom would not want to sleep in a sofa bed.
Good luck.
