Family rooms at Newport Bay

Has anyone stayed in one of these?
I want somewhere for my family of 5, that is quite close to the park so we can take a break if/when needed.

I've seen a room there for 4 days/3 nights costing £655 for everyone. It seems a good price to me. What do you all think?

From your other post about airport hotels I am guessing you are travelling down the day before.

This means you can go over to the Newport early on day 1, leave your luggage and get park tickets to spend the first day in the park before you actually check in.

Then you'll have a further 2 full days for the parks in the middle and you'll check out the last day (if your departure isn't til later on you can again go in the parks for a bit).

£655 for 5 people including tickets for the parks for 4 days seems very reasonable to me. I've never stayed in the Newport - but I've not heard many bad words said about it.

Yes it does, Cyrano, but I just called the DLP number on the booking page, and the lady on the phone quoted £886 for the same package. I suppose the internet prices can vary from the phone prices, but that's a big difference.

She also recommended the Explorer Hotel as a more child orientated place.

We have stayed at both and whilst The NB is my first choice I must agree that the reception area of the EH has more for children. That issue becomes important if you intend to spend time in the hotel rather than just a base to sleep in.

They also have childrens suites at The EH with seperate bunk room which is great if you have mixed sex children.

Good luck with your choice but I know you will have a fab time where ever you stay.

Hello Sarah and thanks for your reply.

There are advantages and disadvantages to each though I'm actually leaning towards the Explorer as 1st choice now. The NB looks classy and would be the best for me and dh, but I think the kids would prefer the EH. We probably would spend quite some time at the hotel and it sounds like it is well set up for kids with a great pool and the cabin rooms. But it's that bit further from the park.

Also, I can get a good deal via Expedia at the EH for all 4 nights (£300). Then I'd just need a 3 day Park pass for everyone at £375.

Our flight would land at CGD at 9.35pm and we could get a shuttle that night to the Explorer Hotel and stay there for the whole trip. Get into the Disney experience asap!

(Actually, I just showed the children the 2 hotels online, and they defenitely prefer the look of the EH!)
