We usually stay at the Hilton at Gatwick, but this time DD will be in a bed rather than a cot so we will need a family room.

I've heard good reviews about the Sofitel since the chnage over and now cannot decide which one to go for.

Has anyone stayed in a family room at either hotel recently?

We stayed at the Hilton quite a few years ago. The room we had was dirty, shabby and small. It had a double and fold out single. The room was small just as a double.

Last year we stayed at the Sofitel our room was large bright and clean and didn't seem cramped despite having a regular double and a double sofa bed out.

We also benefitted from a lovely view over the ramp/gate area that VS tend to use (what was the satelite terminal).

Next year we are going to be back at the Hilton, using up my HHonors points to pay for the room.

:) Chris.

I stayed in a family room at the Hilton a couple of monhs ago. It had a big bed (King?) and bunk beds.

It was very clean and the location, as you will know, cannot be beaten :)

To be honest the Sofitel also looks lovely so I would probably choose whichever was cheaper :thumbsup2

Also stayed there in May this year, booked with holidayextras and got the double with the bunks - room was clean and smart and as mentioned before loacation is absolutely excellent for the Virgin flights

We stayed at the Sofitel when it was Le Meridien in 2004 and room was lovely and spacious even with a double, two twins and a huge comfy sofabed. We have booked here again for our next trip because it was cheaper than the Hilton. If the Hilton had been cheaper I would have booked that ~ at the end of the day it is only for one night and I will be so excited I won't sleep much anyway! :teeth:
