Family Reunion Wisconsin Dells

We are planning a 2011 family reunion and have chosen the Dells as the location. Does anyone have a recommendation for a resort that is reasonably priced ( I know nothing is cheap in the Dells!) and has some recreational activities. It looks like the water park resorts are way out of our price range. We have a few people who will camp, but most would like a cabin/hotel. We can easily leave the resort for entertainment, so the most important thing would be a central area for get togethers and the price.
There will be 50-60 people attending, ages infant to 80s.

We plan to drive to the Dells to check out some places in a few weeks, but it would sure be nice to narrow the list of resorts to a manageable number.

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I would say the most cost effective is the Wilderness Lodge. It is also the largest. Have fun!!

We have stayed at Great Wolf lots of times for $99-$109 a night. If you are going to drive there, I would ask for a tour of the facility and ask to speak to the gm or the sales manager about pricing for a family trip. I once priced out a "group rate" for a conference and the pricing was pretty good.

Wilderness is also nice.

Chula Vista is small but runs some good deals, probably because they are a bit off the path.

Ho-Chunk (the casino) also runs some deals, but you would have to book in advance and it is not exactly kid friendly.

BTW--the outlet mall behind the Great Wolf has a Disney store outlet, that is hit or miss.

Are you planning on doing this in the heart of summer or are your dates more flexible than that, say like May or even Sept? As was already mentioned when u know you are going to the Dells call each resort and talk to concierge or their group sales dept, tell them that you are considering having your reunion there and would like to tour the facilities and speak with someone one on one regarding pricing..I use to work for Kalahari's reservations dept and depending on how your contract is written the prices really are not all that bad...Another option is to call the Visitors Bureau and they can point you in the right direction if you are looking for camping and cabin options, some campgrounds have both...I'm in the Dells just about weekly and still know many ppl who live and work there so if you would like some help or have questions I'd be more than happy to help you. I LOVE helping people plan trips to the Dells, there's so much to do!
