We were originally scheduled to leave logan ap at 7a.m. but that flight was changed to 8:05a.m. When we got to the ap we found the flight had been delayed til 8:25. We finally boarded the plane figuring we'd get there about 11:30a.m. There were 6 of us on the flight(CA family was coming in at 4:30p.m. and my dh was to pick them up at MCO) Well, we sat on the runway for a while and the pilot finally tells us there is some really bad weather and they are hoping to get an alternate route. We finally take off at 9:30(boarded the plane about 8:15) This is where the name the screamer comes in for my dd. She started after about 20min of just sitting there and screamed for the rest of the flight with the exception of the 45min nap she took. Once we get in the air the pilot tells us a couple of things. 1st--He hopes we have enough fuel to make it to Orlando and that upon takeoff, a row of seats in the plane became unbolted and we will have to make a stop to have that fixed. Oh boy! I don't like to fly anyway, so this news nearly put me over the edge! Well, after a little while the pilot decided we could probably make it with the fuel we have but he doesn't want to take chances so we will be landing in Columbia SC.(why we took off without the right amount of fuel is beyond me.) We landed in SC about 11:30. We were allowed to leave the plane(thank GOD)They refueled and fixed the broken seats. We got back on the plane where they offered each of us a small bottle of warm water and cookies that they were selling for $1 a box. We took off from SC at about 1:15. What should have been a 3hr flight. turned out to be a 6hr flight. I think Delta should have offered at least a soda or some crackers or something. We finally landed at MCO at 2:30. We got the luggage and went to the Budget rental desk. Paper work was easy(all paid for through priceline) Waited about 35min for the van. We were very hot and tired at this point and the screamer was still earning her name.

We left the airport about 3:20 and headed out to the BC for our 1 stay there. Well, we of cours hit dead stopped traffic. Turns out there was a car off the road. Fianlly made our way to the BC and checked in at 4:30. We made a quick call to the airport to let the CA family know to take the shuttle to the resort since we obviously weren't going to make it to get them.

Got our rooms(3 altogether)1st problem was there was only sleeping for 4 and we had 5 in 2 of the rooms. We went to the front desk and told them of the problem. Also, quiet pool was the waterview that we got. They offered to have our rooms changed the following day. The other solution was to have cots put in the rooms. Since we wasted so much time just getting there we didn't want to move rooms so we agreed to the cots. Well, they had no where else to put them except right in front of the balconies so that we couldn't use the balcony. We decided to let them know we would switch rooms the next day. We were going to have 2 rooms with double beds and daybeds and 1 room with 2 queen beds. I wasn't thrilled with the thought of a double bed but was trying to deal with what we were given.

About 6pm we finally heard from the CA family (they had someone else in the family get us on the cell phone) and they had been leaving messages for us in the room. When they finally got to the resort we discovered that they were leaving messages in the wrong room. The front desk was connecting them to their room. Front desk didn't appear to be very helpful to us and we found it very confusing and frustrating to deal with them.

Got something to eat at Beaches n cream and decided to take a swim. Figured we would wake up with a new outlook on things.

I hope for your sake that it gets better........SORRY

That is definately not the way to start a trip!! I'm amazed that the front desk was so careless. Since I'm reading these in the wrong order, I know things got better! I'm glad they did!!

Yikes, what a start.. I fly out of Logan too.. but have learned no more Delta.. They have squished me in their planes for the last time.. I now fly into Tampa or another airport close to Orlando to avoid the mayhem.. LOL..

I am sorry about the BC, I hope I read better trip reports after this first day.. I just feel terrible to have people spend all that money and not be happy.. Hugs

Just curious, did you give your DD some gum? She might have been screaming because her ears hurt. Adults tend to forget that little kids don't automatically pop their ears.

What a way to begin a vacation! I do hope it gets better!

UGH Nothing worse than warm water! Hope things look up from here :)
