So. this morning my mom told me to make sure I ate lunch early because we (my family and my aunt, uncle, cousin and cousin's BF) were going to grill hamburgers and have hamburgs and mac 'n' cheese for dinner. This is one of my favourite meals so I ate lunch early (1 ish) in prep for being hungry for dinner at 7 (our usual time).

It is now quarter to nine and I just ate dinner. The burgers were massively undercooked and there was no mac 'n' cheese. Why? Suffice to say, I think that between them my mother, aunt, and uncle have had enough to drink to kill several smallish children.

I HATE THIS! It seems like every saturday the same thing happens. my mother starts drinking around 2 in teh after noon and doesn't stop until she passes out. Usually my aunt stays sober long enough to cook, but apparently that didn't happen today.

I was starving when my mom came to tell me we were eating-- two hours ago! Needless to say, I was more than peeved when she came over a fifteen minutes ago to tell me the burgers were ready. My dad? He'd already gone to bed-- without eating.

I've done so much for my mom when she gets like this. She'll pass out on the couch upstairs with the TV blaring and a beer in her hand. I'll go upstairs to go to bed, turn out the lights, take the beer, throw a blanket over her, turn off the tv, leave the hall light on, and go to bed. This has happened six times in teh past month alone.

I've told her she should cut back because the amount she drinks can't be healthy. But she won't listen to me.

I hate it when people think that alcohol is necessary to have a good time (her, my aunt, uncle, cousins, most of my family). It isn't.

I hate Saturday nights. College can't come quick enough.

So. If you made it through this, thanks for letting me get it all out. I needed to tell somebody other than my journal.

I know we're already talking about this on fb. I shared my story which is something I don't really like talking about, so not too many people know. But it's not nearly as bad as yours. I hate alcohol so much, I'm actually scared to drink it for fear of becoming addicted.

I'm sorry. :(

that's me pretty much. I refuse to drink, smoke, do drugs or whatever because I'm terrified of ending up like my family.

Alcoholism has literally blackened a quarter of my family tree. I've never personally seen the effects of it on my now deceased grandpa or my uncles, but I've heard more than enough stories to make me avoid drinking when I'm older.

Agreed.
My maternal grandfather died when my mom was 16, from cirrohsis of the liver. He basically drunk himself to death. I think his brother did the same. I've seen alcohol damage too many families. :sad2:
