WE are a family of five plus a grandma. We want to book at POR. Our youngest will be a month over three. So it won't let us book there. How can I make this work?? We really wanted a royal room

The royal rooms only sleep 4 max. They all have 2 queens. So can you afford 2 royal rooms? If you'd rather stay in one room, take a look at the value suites at AoA or all stars.

We just looked up two royal rooms I think it will out of our budget. Maybe AOA would be better. But does anyone know if riverside has adjoining rooms. I don't want to split up kids

You can request CONNECTING rooms at any resort, but it's just a request.
They are the ones that have a door inside connecting the two rooms.
Adjoining means near each other.

Regardless of whether a resort has connecting rooms, Disney will not guarantee you a connecting room (nor even adjacent rooms), although they generally try to accomodate.

I personally love the theming at AoA, but the price is higher than the suites at all star music.

Also, not sure how you want to do sleeping arrangements but the suites at AoA have 3 beds and all star music has 4 beds.

AoA = 1 queen in master bedroom, 1 double table-bed, and 1 double sofa sleeper.
all star music = 1 queen, 1 double sofa sleeper, 1 convertable automan, 1 convertable chair.

What about 2 LM rooms at AoA? You can request connecting rooms although one of your kids would have to stay in grandma's room but it would give you 4 full size beds and 2 bathrooms. Cheaper than a suite and 2 mods and plenty of room. We do 2 connecting rooms a lot and have only not gotten our request once (was during the holidays and we were like 3 rooms apart)

Thank you do much for all your suggestions. Our boys would love the cars suite. And our daughter would love the pool there. I think this might be the way to go.
