Family of four consists of:
Tom - husband (38)
Sherrie - wife (32)
Heidi - daughter (9)
Raymond - son (6)
Our first day ended up being our worst day. We flew on December 18 from Ottawa Ontario to Toronto Ontario and then supposedly to Orlando. Well, mother nature had better ideas. Because our flight was early in the morning (6:00 am), it was very cold out (-15 degrees celcius). Naturally the planes were very icy and had to be de-iced before taking off. I heard that for some reason the planes were being done twice for whatever reason. Because of this we were an hour late leaving Ottawa. When we got to Toronto we still had to find our luggage and go through customs before going to our gate. That was a nightmare and very busy. Needless to say, we missed the connecting flight to Orlando. Tom found out that the next flight to Orlando was not until 8 that evening. We had absolutely no desire of spending our first Disney day in an airport, so we amazingly got on a flight to Chicago which had a flight going to Orlando the next day. I say "amazingly" because AirCanada was not co-operative at all. When we get to Chicago, which is a huge airport, we find our gate only to find out that the flight to Orlando is already extremely overbooked. Figures. We are on a standby list. Which is okay because there is another flight leaving several (5) hours later. While sitting around the airport gate waiting for time to fly by and eating McDonalds food, an airport attendant at the gate asked us what we were waiting for. After telling her, she tells us that there are four seats left and the plane but we have to hurry because the plane is seconds from leaving. Okay we are now on our way to Orlando. On the plane Tom used the airplane phone and called Tiffany and told them they we were now on our way but had no idea what flight number and what time we were to arrive. I guess that it did not matter because Tom (coincidence) from Tiffany was at the luggage area when we landed.
Now, my daughter did not know that we were going to WDW for Christmas. She believed that we were going somewhere in western Canada. She quickly figured out that we were in Orlando, and that Orlando was in the States, but she did not know what was in Orlando. It was not until Tom from Tiffany was running to the gas station (yes we ran out of gas if you could believe it) that we told her exactly where we were. Of course, she did not believe us until we started passing a lot of Disney advertisements along the way to the resort.
Tiffany also stopped us off for a quick grocery stop before the resort, which I figured saved us a lot in breakfast/snack food during the stay.
So, we get to AllStar Movies and check in. We asked for the ToyStory section way back in July and even had it written on our confirmation, but they stuck us in LoveBug. Well, we were so exhausted, we did not care. Also, at check in was a package from Gifts of A Lifetime. I totally forgot about ordering Badges of Honour and a couple of other things.
We get to the resort room, 7488, exhausted. By now it is around 6:30 pm. We were suppose to be in Disney at 11:30 that morning. We missed our PS for Cape May Cafe and ended up having pizza delivered to our room from the food court.
It was finally the end of a horrible day. I think that we were in bed by 9 with no complaints from the kids
