Family of five - what are my on-site options at Universal?

Depends on your budget...you can get one room at any of the hotels since you can have up to 5 in a room with a roll away. So RPR will be the least expensive. You can also get a deluxe room at HRH that has a study with a sleeper sofa for some extra room and the PBH has the largest rooms so then you can get one with a roll away and then have a bit more room to move around.

They also have kids suites, which are a bit more, and those include 2 rooms with the extra room themed for the kids.

We took DD now 7 to US/IOA for the first time last year and stayed at RPR and she loved it. This year we thought of doing Disney but when I asked what her favorite things were about Disney she just rattled on about the rides at US/IOA so we decided to just take our time and stay 5 nights for WWOHP.

All 3 hotels have great pools with activities for kids all day. At HRH she participated in a hula hoop contest, there they also do adult activities :), and at RPR they had water balloon toss, volleyball games in the pool, ping pong and other activities for the kids to do. She had a blast both at the parks and the pool

I like US/IOA better just because it is not as stressful, you don't have to have a gameplan for every minute of the day and the hotels are a short walk or boat ride away so going back to the hotel during the day is easier. Since we will have the 8 month old this time going back for that afternoon nap is a must, oh and she will need one too :)
