What resorts are recommended for a family of 5 have been there twice and stayed at all star spots with two rooms. Considering asmu suite for next trip. Was curious to hear what other people think.

THANKS!!:grouphug: :thumbsup2

We have stayed at POR twice in the AB section with a trundle bed. We actually had six there but one was under three so didn't count. It is a small room but didn't seem too small for us since we didn't spend much time in the room anyway.

Consider staying at a villa. A two bedroom is spacious and gives everybody space. We like the SSR .

The least expensive onsite option is POR. We are staying there next month.

You can also get 2 rooms at a value, the ASMU suites and a cabin at Ft. Wilderness which look very nice.

A garden view room at a deluxe like the POLY or CR would give you 2 queen beds and a day bed, which my son thought was comfy.

Villa's are quite expensive, so see if you can rent DVC points on the DVC board for the time your travelling. The board will have alot of information about DVC and how to rent points.

A lot of people opt for the Port Orleans Riverside route but personally I'd suggest you get something with more space than that if you can afford it.

Many of the Deluxe resorts sleep 5, with 2 queen beds and a daybed. There are rooms like this in the Boardwalk, Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian, Beach Club and Yacht Club. You really should consider this, it's an amazing experience to be at Deluxe if you've never done it before. I just ran some dates in September and you could get the Beach Club for $325 a night. Walk to Epcot, swim in the best pool on property, all those great restaurants at your fingertips...

Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'd have to go up to Club Level pricing or Suites to get 5 in a room, so that may be out of price range.

Coronado Springs has some Jr. Suites that aren't that much more than two Value rooms.

The cabins at Ft. Wilderness are another option.

We rented DVC points for many years, and were mostly happy with the process. The only downside is you have to fork over all your money a long time before you travel, and then you are under a lot of pressure if you have to cancel, but honestly Disney Travel Co.'s cancellation policies aren't that much better.

And last but not least, there's the Family Suites at All Star Music.

I think that about wraps it up!

I would suggest renting points from a dvc member. Get a studio at AKL. Some of them sleep 5 and they have more room than a room at the all stars. At about $10 or $11 a point the price isn't bad. If you are willing to pay for 2 rooms at an allstar resorts than it comes out to be the same price as a 1 bedroom, then you have a full kitchen and washer/dryer in your room. Your renting points from a member, not paying rack rates so it if much more affordable. Unfortunatly the studios and 1 bedrooms at the other dvc resorts only sleep 4. Good luck. :shamrock:

DH and I were to stay one night in a standard room at ASMu this past weekend. We were upgraded to a family suite!:) I felt a little guilty, all that room and it was just the two of us. But, IT WAS NICE. There were two bathrooms, a bedroom with a double/queen size bed, a kitchenette
(microwave, coffee pot, sink, drawers & mini fridge) and a TV room that had pull-outs. Probably slept 4 in the tv room. That room suite 6 comfortably. If you're not going to spend lots of time in the room, I'd save the money and pick the Family Suite. :thumbsup2
We will be going to WDW in Sept. with my disabled father and the ASMu suite is where I am looking to book.It has a "homey" feel and still has the feel of a Disney resort! Have a great time where ever you decide to stay!:wizard:

We're a family of five and have stayed at AKL (when one was in crib) and Poly, CR and hopefully BC this year....we've also stayed at OKW...but we really liked the monorail resorts, their rooms seem bigger and we are just in them for sleeping so having the large daybed works out well...our 2 daughters sleep in one bed, dh and I in the other and son on daybed...I've ALWAYS been able to book with a code so the price gets better...also check out Boardwalk Inn and Yacht club....WL and AKL have suites that fit 5 but they're much more than the single room at any of the others....Grand Floridian, too but they're just about 10% more than Poly or CR....

Have a great time!
Tara

Our family of five has stayed at PO and the BC when the kids got older. We made out fine! Now that there are only three of us traveling, we love POFQ!:)

I am a family of 5 and I like the monorail resorts..They all accompany 5 per room so I can stay at any of them.. I stay in a MK view so when exhaustion kicks in and the kiddies lay down..my hubby and I go on our balcony with some wine and enjoy the view and some alone time together :lovestruc
Next stop for us CR with the MK view..

Family Suite info:

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

They have a stap and with a gental one handed pull they open right up. They also fold very easily.

Note:

Mousekeeping will make up the each day and close them for you.
If you decide to close them in the morning to make more room--mousekeeping will pull them back out to make them up and then close them back up.up.
