Family of 5, 1 room at Beach Club or 2 rooms at Pop?

Good to know. A few years ago I had FD BB at ASSp and wanted to upgrade to the DDP and the CM I spoke with was going to charge me the full price for the dining plan. Figured it was meant for me to have QS so I left it alone.
Ugh. Sometimes it's just better to call back and talk to someone else.

We are also a family of five and have never stayed in two rooms. Our kids are almost the identical ages! We always stay together in one room. We have stayed in a family suite at ASMu. It was nice to have the extra bathroom and nice to have extra room to spread out.

Having said all that I would still choose the Beach Club. So nice to be that close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. The Boardwalk is a great place to stroll around. I also like to sit out by Stormalong Bay. Just so much more relaxed feel at BC compared to Pop Century.

Have a great trip!

Beach club. I’d always chose a deluxe over a value. Even if i had to sleep on the floor :rotfl:The last time I slept on the beds at a value, it felt like the floor.

I didn’t think you could have 5 people in a room other than a few select resort rooms like at CBR.

Is there a way Disney will let you have more than 4 people to a regular resort room ?

Most of the Deluxes, Beach Club included, have a max room occupancy of 5. CBR and POR, have rooms that have 2 Queen Beds and a Murphy Bed. The Beach Club has rooms that have 2 Queens and a Day Bed.

If the max room occupancy is 4, the most you can have is 4 plus 1 infant under the age of 3.

Beach Club! We are a family of five and have stayed at BC and YC many times. Hands down location is so much better and with a little planning you all can get ready in the morning fine.

I would choose space over convenience. We rented a 2 BR 2 BA from Wyndham Bonnet Creek in December and I got spoiled and now I want onsite but I also want that space.

My kids are close to those ages (20, 16, 9), and I'd err on the side of two bathrooms/no bed sharing every time. I love the Beach Club but that's the biggest reason we haven't been back - we've outgrown sharing one room and one bathroom when we travel so unless we're traveling with just part of the family or can plan far enough in advance with enough certainty to comply with points-rental terms we won't be back. It is just too hard to get five people showered and ready with one bathroom, and too difficult to deal with sleeping arrangements (our older two are boy & girl and they started refusing to share a bed years ago, but only DD9 is small enough for the daybed... so with five in a standard room we end up having to mess with bringing an air mattress). Also, Stormalong Bay is not a huge advantage unless you plan a day to take advantage, because if you're parks people there's a very good chance you'll be gone before it opens and not back until after it closes on park days.

We do also love Pop, though. It was our favorite of the values even before Art of Animation opened, and having that second food court just across the bridge has only made it better. For a while it was the only resort my youngest wanted to stay at, and in two rooms (for 5 people), there's actually a decent amount of room. We haven't been since the latest refurb, but I think it would be even better now with the pull-down beds.

If your 10 year old is not too tall, the daybed in the Beach Club room would be perfect and, as other posters have said, the fact that Beach Club is walking distance to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, probably the parks most interesting to your kids, is a bonus. I like how the area has enough to do that the kids can maybe even go off on a little "independent exploring" time.
That said, if your 17 and 15 year old are bathroom hogs like my sister and I were at that age, you might be better off with two rooms so that you have an extra bathroom! LOL
Did you look into the Family Suites at Art of Animation or All Star Music? Those also have two bathrooms but are similar to Pop Century in that you need a bus to theme parks (less "independent exploring options" for the kids).

That said, when I want a second bathroom, I opt for the 1BR villa at Bay Lake Tower. It has enough room for 5 to sleep AND that second bathroom. But I expect the rates to be quite a bit higher than Beach Club, though Disney website not working at the moment and its impossible to check.

Why not have a Disney Travel Planner figure all this out for you? Its free and your BB code can be applied.

I want to add that last trip we did one room at the Poly and BC with my kids who were 15 and 9 at the time. We were fine with bathroom time. We only have one bathroom at home so we are really good at maximizing bathroom time. It helps that my kids shower at night. Now after 10 days I was ready to strangle everyone and vowed to do two rooms or a 1-2 bedroom villa for any future trips. I don't think it was so much the space issue but never having my own time to myself. It was constant togetherness......the parks, meal times, pool time, bed time, tv time, etc. Mom, Mom, Mom!! I love my kids but I'm someone who needs their own decompression time everyday. Even at home I get up an hour before everyone and have my me time before work. I felt much better when we did a few date nights in Epcot while the kids stayed in the room (their choice). I would be hard pressed to give up BC for Pop so if that decision ever came up again I would be able to manage one room by having us do separate things at times. Maybe day 2 the kids go to the pool while I relax in the room for an hour or the kids run to Epcot for lunch one day while the adults hang at the pool. I could do one room if everyone can have their own time here and there.
