Hi there!

My mom, dad, husband and I are going to Walt Disney World together in April. We'll be there for 9 nights and they'll be there for 7 nights.

We're on each other's Family & Friends lists and each have our own account, but what is the procedure so we can plan together, but also have separate plans? Specifically:
  • When making our park reservations, it asks who is in your party...should we select all four of us or just two in the primary party so we can each book our own reservations for the same park on overlap days and then different parks when we're not together?
  • How does it work for dining? Should they be in our planning group if we want to eat at the same place?
  • Same questions for things like ROTR. Should we be in the same planning party so on our DHS day one of us can try to get in the boarding group for all four? Same goes for if FP comes back.
I guess, basically, does it matter if they're officially in our planning party or can they just stay in our Family & Friends list, and then we can select to include them when we want to for things like dining and rides? TIA for your help!

When making park passes, ADRs, etc., I just select the specific individuals who will participate in that specific activity. When trying for a RotR BG, the app will automatically select anyone in your F&F list who has a valid ticket and park pass for DHS that day; you don’t have to do that. I never created a “planning party,” but after I booked resort reservations, ADRs and park passes for our family trip next month, my MDE on the website started listing everyone at the top of My Plans and calling them my planning party. DH and I are finishing up a week here, and the “planning party” had nothing to do with the ADRs, park passes and BGs that pertained just to the two of us.

Ok! All good to know. Thank you. I haven’t been since 2017 so it feels like new territory for me, and with all the changes right now, I just want to make sure I have the digital planning experience all set to avoid any hiccups, haha.

If you're staying in the same hotel, I'd also call to add a "traveling with" number to the reservation. This way the room assignors know when they play tetris to try and get you near each other (if that's important)

Also, does anyone know what "Disney Magic!" means? It's on my MK day for 8am and there's an option to Remove From My Plans. It's not on any of my other days. I've tried looking it up, but nothing turns up. Curious what it means?
