Well since Linda was being rude with us for no reason, I didn't mention that I never got my Lilikoi juice. She brought the bill without ever asking if we were all set. I was charged for the juice so I asked her to please remove it from the bill. Before I could hand her my Tables In Wonderland card she stormed off. When she came back with the updated bill, I told her I had the card. She had to do the bill again. She stormed off once again. At this point it was becoming comical. I'm not sure if this is her normal demeanor or if she was just having a horrible day, but we did witness her being very friendly with a couple sitting a few tables away from us. I donno. Anyways, she finally came back with the check and we paid our bill. We packed up the kids and started to leave the restaurant. She came running back to us and said we didn't leave her enough money.
Yay for an update!!! What a wacky waitress. At least your food looked great!
The food was excellent as always! The waitress... well, not so excellent!Breakfast looked yummy. Sorry about the rude waitressGlad Mel was feeling better.
You think I should of had her go back 2-3 more times? I probably could of thought of something... Like had her bring my juice then had her add it back on!Aw, man, I'm so sorry you got Ms. Snooty Pants! But I'm laughing pretty hard that she has to go back like 3 times to get the bill straightened out. Sweet justice, it was!
I can only pray for such great drama on my own trip! Makes for a TR worth reading.![]()
I consider myself a generous tipper.. if I have decent service. I just like the person to be nice and to seem interested in us. If she/he brings the wrong meal or something is messed up, I don't get bent out of shape.I had a waiter chase after me and my friends once. He was a horrible waiter and was rude to us. We could see from the moment he saw us he was hating this table full of high school kids. We hemmed and hawed about the tip and I finally told my friends he doesn't deserve much! So we left him a couple of bucks for this rather large group. (Guess this is why they make it automatic for big groups now!)
I wasn't about to go through that whole process. We were there long enough. When I go back to Kona, I'll make sure she isn't our waitress.I wish you had some wiggle room to adjust her tip, but I can understand just wanting to keep the mood light and move on. Good for you guys for being able to laugh it off.
Tonga Toast is like having dessert for breakfast. I think the strawberry sauce adds a little tartness to it that tones down the sweetness. I wish I could eat some right now!Kona, one of my very favorites. Finally trying it for breakfast and finally trying the tonga toast on next trip in sept.![]()
Feet huh... not sure I'd like that either! In all of my trips to WDW, I've still never been to Kona. It's always on our to-do list, but we never seem to fit it in. After hearing people rave about the tonga toast, I found a recipe in one of my Disney cookbooks and tried it at home. I'm sure Disney does it much better, as my kind of tasted like feet.Glad yours was good, though!
HAHA.. I should of said that. Then there would of been morning fireworks!Maybe she could make up the difference with her tip... Oops, not enough there, either!![]()
She felt a little better this day but still not up to par.Sorry your wife was feeling sick. There's nothing worse than being sick on vacation.
Yes they do put it on the regular french toast. I have a pic of it.. let me find it.Hey, do they put the cinnamon sugar on the regular french toast at Kona? The Tonga Toast looks intriguing, but I'm not big on bananas in my breakfast food. Those pancakes look good too...
Ooo, I love unplanned parts of trips. I can't wait to see where you went for dinner.
I'm sure if you ask, you can find out when they will be 'hanging out' over there. They are awesome! Thanks for the tip on the stepsisters in MK, I didn't realize they sometimes do meets over there, so that's good to know. I've rarely seen them near the castle, but that's mostly during MNSSHP, not regular park hours.
LOLOL That's funny!Sounds like you had a great breakfast despite the rudeness. You know, I think every Disney trip has one "bad" meal whether it's bad service or bad food, and it was good that you could laugh about it. We had an experience at Coral Reef once where our waitress was just so clueless, it was like the filter between her brain and her mouth wasn't working. She said things that actually should have offended me, but didn't because I was so surprised by it and all I could think was, this is not a good way to earn a tip, my dear.Anyway, long story short, they can't all be perfect, but we reacted much like yourselves, with amusement.
Your Blackhawks are up 2-0... they are on their way to the finals.I'm going
GO BLACKHAWKS!!!!
Okay...I feel better now; well, I'm still sick (I missed the game as I was in bed at 8:45 last night)...actually the whole family is sick except for hubby.
Anxiously awaiting the next update.
Feet huh... not sure I'd like that either!
I've had it 2-3 times and it had been excellent each time. I'll probably have something different next time but I still love it.
So what are you waiting for... make an ADR for Kona in December!!!!
Maybe is was the fact that we had 3 kids with us? She should be used to serving kids.Yay! An update!
Good job getting to go to Kona and not getting ill with the grumpy waitress. She must have not liked your looks if she was nice to one couple and not nice to you. Perhaps you "rubbed her the wrong way" as we say here in the south when there's no real explanation for plain rudeness. At least you enjoyed your meal. It served the mean waitress right having to go back a couple of times to correct your ticket.![]()
AWWW THANKS!The picture of Juliana doing her surfer pose was just adorable. She's cute anyways, without even trying!![]()
Thanks again.. we are proud of her.And I love the family pose of you guys - Juliana crossing her little legs with those shoulders up - she totally looks like a little princess. I know you guys are so proud!!!![]()
It was another rainy day. Prefect for sleeping and doing laundry!Sounds like a nice rainy day for Mel to rest up and try to get well. Can't wait to see what's up for din-din.
I totally understand...Now that I think about it, I think we've only done one breakfast at Disney World. We ate at the Cape May Cafe, but we were staying right at the Beach Club when we did it, and it was on one of our non-park days.
We usually don't do it for two reasons:
1. We like to get to the parks at RD, before the crowds get horrible. To have breakfast at 8 or 9 and then eat for an hour or so, I feel like I just wasted half my day.
2. It's hard to justify $15-20 a person on eggs and toast, no matter how good it tastes.Since we stay at DVC (or with DW's parents) we always have a kitchen and can make breakfast before we go.
....buuuuuut, I'll work on the wife and see what I can get worked out for December.![]()
The Tonga Toast looks intriguing, but I'm not big on bananas in my breakfast food. Those pancakes look good too...
She already has told us that she is going to marry 2 boys in her class. I just pretend she doesn't really say that and that it is just my mind playing tricks on me.![]()
And you liked it.. didn't you?Yesssss! Kona! And you got the Tonga Toast!Haha, I had to do the banana guy because there's bananas in it. You know, you are actually the one that fully convinced me to order it.

Hummmm I wonder if we had the same waitress? I feel like you had a waiter though...Ok... so do you remember my trip report and our review of Kona!!?? I remember talking with you because we LOVE Kona but had AWFUL service last time and now it just isnt on my "must do" list anymore!! While in college, I used to be a waitress in Salem, MA and the tourists were always the worst!!! I guess at Disney it is ALL tourists! I can only imagine what these people have to deal with... they probably had a bad table before yours and you guys had to pay for it!![]()
Hurray!!!!Your meal at Kona looks good.
My dad and I are going to try it for the first time this July!
LOLOLOL The kids don't wait long to give us parents grey hairs do they? When Claire started 3 YO preschool she came home the 1st day and told me there was a bad boy in her class. A few days later she said "mom I really like tha bad boy"Oh no it starts! LOL! The bad boy is in class with her this year as well, and she told me a while back that he asked her to marry him, and she said yes.
Oh my. So then one day I was at school and I was doing a little teasing to him and said "I hear you're gonna marry Claire and one little boy "Kyle" laughed, and "bad boy quickly said no I'm not... and then turned to Kyle and said, "she told me no now, so we can't". LOL!
Now "Kyle" is what I would call the bad boy in class. He's very hyper and always in trouble. And now Claire has informed me that she is marrying "Kyle"! I think Skip ignores al l his too. Or stocking up on his arsenal.
Now you have me wondering.... is it the same waitress?I have heard of others having a bad waitress at Kona too. One girl who writes TR's here has gone several itmes. She just loves Kona, but had this waitress twice and both times she was really rude. She posted a pic in one of her TR's and someone else recognized this waitress and said she was rude to them too. You probably got the same girl. But I wonder why Disney keeps her.
I wouldn't wish this experience on you!!! I'd take a nice and accommodating waitress anytime!!!!!!
