Family, Friends, & Celebrities- A MAGICAL Birthday TR!!! *UPDATE*8/27! Final thoughts

Hey Tim!
It was a BAD night to be a Boston Fan! Are you on Facebook!!?? We posted some pretty funny pics of our boys crushed at the "historical loss" of our Bruins.

Anywho- great update. You guys look drenched in the pics at 1900! Hopefully it wasnt too cold in there. You were all such good sports about it. Something like that can ruin people's trips and it didnt look like you guys let it... and Poor Mel! What a trooper though!!

We wanted to add in 1900 while we were there in January, but it wasnt open. This year I keep going back and forth about it. Maybe I will add it back in. It looks like such a fun dinner. Having boys though I am just not sure if it would be a waste of money. There is only one night that we could fit it in and we are planning on ordering Pizza delivery to the room, and then walking over to POR for a carriage ride and the they have a campfire and do smores... So what do you think?? Should we skip that and do 1900 or keep that plan?? What do you think??

That cake sure is pretty. I'm not a chocolate cake fan, so I wouldn't have liked it anyway, but I would've been all over the white chocolate Cinderella. YUM!

We experienced rain like that during our July trip in 2008. We were eating at Pizza Planet (outside, by the way) and all of a sudden it was just BUCKETS!!! Our umbrella on the table actually protected us for a little while so we could finish eating, but then it started to blow sideways. We ran into that store right across from it, and we were in there for about 30 minutes and it wasn't letting up at all! We are people that normally just say, put on the raincoat and go, who cares, but it was SO HEAVY! We looked out the door and there were about 4 inches collected on the pathway.

We got bored of waiting, so we decided to just suck it up and go. We walked through areas where the water was past our ankles! The next 4 days were the same. It was a WASHOUT week! It kinda stunk, but you're in Disney, so nothing's that bad, and we got some funny pictures! ;)

What a great call to go over there early!

So glad you could sit in a dry place for a meal and glad you picked up a dry shirt- did your shoes EVER dry out?

Every time I see someone have a meal at PF I see some super fun interaction. Looks like you guys were no exception! Fun stuff!!

Who's in Florida? Melody and Juliana? Did they go to Disney?
Looks like Juliana had a great birthday. The girls make beautiful princesses. Yowzers at all that rain!! I've been there when it was raining that hard and it is not fun. Alex is such a player getting all of the princesses.:rotfl::goodvibes
Cute pictures of the kids with the princesses and fairies.
What a fun birthday dinner. I'm sorry you weren't a big fan of how the cake tasted. I've learned that the cakes that look really good usually aren't.

In my family, sometimes, we call it running through the rain drops. And other times, it's the mad dash from you know where. :lmao: Honestly, some of my most fun memories come from that, so I'm glad it worked out okay for you.

And for some reason I just latched right onto that wet sneaker thing, and all I can think is ewwww. Not a pleasant feeling!

You all had such a wonderful dinner! This is the only thing that I think I will really miss about not having little girls is doing the whole princess thing and taking them to see the princesses.

Although, that may not stop me from wanting to do that myself... :rolleyes1

Anyway, what a fun experience, and I love how Drizella fainted over Alex! Too cute. And the dancing with Cindy, so lovely. :goodvibes

Hi, Tim. Have you heard from Mel and Ana? Are they having a good time? Are they missing you? I know you are missing them.

I love it! Alex instead of the Prince. That's awesome. Those stepsisters were our favorite part of 1900 PF...but I think I might have said that already. ;)
Was hat the same Drizella as the pic you showed me? I think it was.:confused3

The stepsisters are great... I really think they are the highlight of the meal.::yes::

Glad you were able to salvage the day despite the downpour. We got caught in it that afternoon running from Once Upon a Toy to the buses to go back to the Wilderness Lodge. It was a mess!! So glad we opted NOT to go to a park that day.
I think a lot of people opted not to go to the parks that day. It wasn't a total washout... but when it did rain, it was nasty!

Just curious- but I thought the stores were all ONE large store that you can walk through from one end to the other on main street.

Is that not so-- or did you just not know that?
Yes- the Emporium is one store that starts next to Casey's and continues to the beginning of Main St. One we got into the store we just walked through it to the end.

making a list and on that list is rain bonnet in case it rains for our BBB appt.

that was a good idea-- thank you
To tell you the truth.....

It wasn't our idea.:goodvibes When the girls were done with their hair they got a bag from the BBB that had their comb, makeup, and a bonnet in there. I'm not sure if the bonnet is always in there or just when there is inclement weather. :confused3

And you did a marvelous job! :tumbsup2 That cake discussion was pretty serious stuff!
Thank you!

It was pretty serious.

I've noticed that a lot of times, when it rains in WDW...it pours :)
HAHA!!!! Very true!

Great updates! Sorry about all the rain. Thats why I wore my Crocs so much last year! Cake looked really nice-sorry you felt it don't taste that great. What a fun dinner at 1900 PF!
Crocs would of been good to have.... I don't own a pair though. :)

I wish Mel's cousin made another cake for us.;)

You were not kidding about that downpour! I hate the feeling of wet shoes too.
I know.. all squishy. :scared:

The girls look great for having had the hair done so long before dinner. That was nice of them to tighten up Ana's before you left though.
It worked out well. Their heads didn't even get wet! I think putting the poncho on & off loosened Juliana's.
I laughed at Drizella and Alex. I wonder if these characters have lines they prepare for various situations or if they are just stand up comedians.
I think most of them have been doing it for a while that they have a million lines ready to go for any situation.

Hi, Tim. Have you heard from Mel and Ana? Are they having a good time? Are they missing you? I know you are missing them.
They are having a wonderful time. Yesterday they went to a splash park and swam at the house. It's been beautiful there.. about 90. Today is the party and I'm not sure what they have planned tonight. :confused3

I'll be back on later to respond to the rest of you.... I gotta run! LOLOL

Yayyy glad you made it to the GF for 1900 PF, even if you were soaked! Good idea grabbing another shirt :thumbsup2, sitting in a wet one would have been so uncomfortable!

Juliana's cake looks beautiful!! Sorry the taste didn't match the looks :headache:

What a cool way to see Wishes! I'm sure it was great since they even piped in the music :goodvibes

Glad to hear they are having a good time. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to have them tomorrow morning.

LOL That was a bad loss... up 3-0 in the first period and still lose???????

BRUTAL!!!!:scared1::scared1:

It was a little cool but it could of been that I was still wet (even though I had a dry shirt. ;))

Mel really was the best.... she felt so bad and lasted the whole day. I wasn't going to let a little rain.. (or a lot of rain) ruin Juliana's 4th B-DAY!!

Tough question. The campfire & smores sound fun. Do you think the boys would be shy or not have fun there? I'm sure the stepsisters would make a big deal over them.. they are great. If not this trip you do need to try PF in the near future. :)

That cake sure is pretty. I'm not a chocolate cake fan, so I wouldn't have liked it anyway, but I would've been all over the white chocolate Cinderella. YUM!
Even the chocolate had a funky taste to me. It was just OK... we threw about 1/2 of it away. :sad2:

I can totally picture that! Sounds like a tough week in Disney though. I'm glad you still had a great time. At least it was probably warm in July... it was still a little cool to be soaked all day(in March).

What a great call to go over there early!

So glad you could sit in a dry place for a meal and glad you picked up a dry shirt- did your shoes EVER dry out?
When I got back to the house I opened them up and surprisingly they were dry in the morning.

Every time I see someone have a meal at PF I see some super fun interaction. Looks like you guys were no exception! Fun stuff!!
So.... ummmmm... You gonna add it to your already full schedule? :lmao:

We all had a blast at dinner. :goodvibes

Who's in Florida? Melody and Juliana? Did they go to Disney?
They went down for the weekend for Mel's godson's 1st birthday. They are coming home tomorrow. :goodvibes
Looks like Juliana had a great birthday. The girls make beautiful princesses.
I think she had fun all day. They were cute dressed up. :)

Yowzers at all that rain!! I've been there when it was raining that hard and it is not fun.
The rain wasn't ideal but we didn't let it ruin our day.

Alex is such a player getting all of the princesses.:rotfl::goodvibes
LOL :rotfl:

What a fun birthday dinner. I'm sorry you weren't a big fan of how the cake tasted. I've learned that the cakes that look really good usually aren't.
It's OK. I doubt I'll be rushing to get another custom Disney cake anytime soon. :confused3

I think ours was the mad dash from ___ variety! :rotfl2:

And for some reason I just latched right onto that wet sneaker thing, and all I can think is ewwww. Not a pleasant feeling!
That about sums it up! I hate wet sneakers. :scared:

You all had such a wonderful dinner! This is the only thing that I think I will really miss about not having little girls is doing the whole princess thing and taking them to see the princesses.
AWWWW well you can see that Alex loved them. Poor Alex though...getting dragged to see all these princesses. They really were great with him though.

Although, that may not stop me from wanting to do that myself... :rolleyes1
Mom's night out? Nothing wrong with that. :thumbsup2

Anyway, what a fun experience, and I love how Drizella fainted over Alex! Too cute. And the dancing with Cindy, so lovely. :goodvibes
Those stepsisters are great. You can meet them sometimes near the castle where story time with Belle takes place.

Yayyy glad you made it to the GF for 1900 PF, even if you were soaked! Good idea grabbing another shirt :thumbsup2, sitting in a wet one would have been so uncomfortable!
I think the shirt was $15.. I think I would of spent $50 for a t-shirt just to be dry.

Juliana's cake looks beautiful!! Sorry the taste didn't match the looks :headache:
AAHH.. what cha going do? Juliana liked it and that was the important thing. ;)

What a cool way to see Wishes! I'm sure it was great since they even piped in the music :goodvibes
It was good to watch them from there. It was neat seeing them reflecting over the water and having the Main St. train station in the foreground.:thumbsup2

Good morning, Tim. Hope you had a stupendous weekend (fun word, huh?) full of nifty stuff! I didn't realize Mel and Ana were gone?? One more time, please. For those who obviously missed a post...

I really didn't post about it.. but they went to Florida for the weekend to celebrate Melody's godson's 1st birthday with her cousin & family. I worked most of the weekend but I did take my boat out today with a few friends. I have to pick them up tomorrow morning from the airport, then lunch, then off to CCMC for Juliana's blood work and a meeting with her doctors.

It was hard watching them walk away from me when I dropped them off. I really cannot wait to see them tomorrow!!!!

OK, that rings a bell. I remember now... I mercilessly heckled you for not going for a solo weekender- ;) Glad you got some work, though. Is your weather nice enough to boat?? We have had horrible wind the last 2 days- even lost a tree limb- thankfully, it landed inches AWAY from the car.

Is this the follow-up to Ana's scans??

It was 74 and mostly sunny today. The water is still cold- about 58 degrees... although one of my friends did jump in. He was trying to be cool. LOL

We have to go tomorrow to enroll her in a study for late effects of chemo. I don't know exactly what is going to happen but from what I understand she will need bloodwork for the study.

Sounds LOVELY! Not as lovely as a boat taking me to MK, but nice.

Is the study mandatory?? Why did you decide to do it?? Just curious.

I'd get you there quick! This is a Sea Ray... not a 15mph searaycer! :lmao::lmao:

It is not mandatory but they just continuing following her till she is 18 and possibly beyond. I'm not sure if this is going to be to addition to her regular checkups or if this is instead of her checkups. I will find out more info tomorrow. The reason to do it is to help doctors get more info about chemo and the effects of it to help them make better medical decisions in the future.
