Family Bathroom in DL? Wheelchair question also..

I am writing as my dad has just had a stroke and we have a day planned at DL in June. He is not getting out of it. As he has a wheelcahir and I told him I would personally push him all day.

The question is? Does anyone know if DL has family restrooms? I know DCA does, but we are not going there that day.

I am not positive if he can go by himself just yet, it is not the type of question you ask my dad..


Also.... He loves the rides and does not have a real disability that a ride could hurt him, but he can't stand in line for long periods of time. He will be in a wheelcahir.. What do we do about rides that have stairs?

Head over to the disAbilities board. There are family restrooms in DL, they are listed in the park disability guides, available throughout the park. Also the rides in which the queues are not wheelchair accessible do have alternate entrances. These rides, and where to go are also listed in the guide. You do not need a special pass for this access, the fact that your Dad is in a wheelchair allows him(and up to 5 others) to use the alternate entrances.

My mom requires a wheelchair for Disney trips, so we're well versed in using the alternate entrances. On some rides, the handicapped person may need to walk if the attraction were to break down while they're on the attraction, so the CM will ask you when you get up there. I don't know what will happen if the person would be unable to do the walking required though. I also know that on Small World, they can strap the wheelchair onto the top of the boat and the person can remain on the wheelchair. My sister rode Small World that way once two weeks after foot surgery.
