This question doesn't even apply to us yet, as we are now a family of 4 with 2 dds, 3years and 10months.
We have been considering DVC since we went on our first WDW vacation when dd1 was 18months old. We were just starting out, and didn't know much about it so decided to wait.
We are considering it again, with the thought of potentially buying a small contract thru resale to get our foot in the door with a lower upfront cost.
My question is, if we were to extend our family to 3 kids, will we always have to rent at least a 2 bedroom.
Do all of the studios and 1 bedroom units only sleep 4. That seems kinda odd to me since most dexluxe resorts sleep 5, why did Disney make a 1 bedroom villa that only sleeps 4?
With a small contract, we would eat our points quickly if we always had to get a 2 bedroom.
We don't plan on vacationing multiple times a year. Likely one longer vacation of about a week as we live near Chicago, and don't see ourselves making the trip down that often.
Also do any of the DVC studios have two beds rather than the one bed and a pullout?
Just wondering what most people with larger families do.

I suspect your thread is going to get closed and you'll be referred to the DVC Occupancy thread, but I'll try to answer.

The occupancy for a studio or one-bedroom is 4 + one child under 3. There is a Pac 'n Play in each unit for the <3 year old. Disney will NOT provide any extra bedding.

Disney's written rule is that you can only have 4 in a studio and a one bedroom. You can also have a child under 3 that is not counted in a one bedroom. I am not sure about a studio. The unwritten policy that can change anytime is that Disney will allow 5 in a one bedroom. The 5th person will not have a bed, towels or linens. People have brought a sleeping bag or blow up mattress.

The why is probably because it seems to pretty much be a trading standard within the timeshare industry. Currently Member Services will allow 5 in aone bedroom unit, but no additional beds, bed linens or towels will be provided. Going on current rumor only, AKV may have some one bedroom units with extra bedding to officially accomodate a 5th person...but we have to wait and see if it is anything more than rumor.

All current DVC studios and one bedrooms officially sleep 4 plus one child under the age of 3 in a Pack N Play.

As occupancy threads tend to degenerate quickly into heated debates, the subject is limited to this thread, where you may continue the discussion of you wish.
