Families of 5 @ Disney

That's going to be our solution too in the long run. We're hoping to buy DVC next year, and I should have been more clear because I do know that non-value level AKV and the new BLT at the Contemporary sleep 5 in a 1 bedroom. In fact, that's one of the things that tipped the scales in favor of buying DVC - if they'd stuck with the limit of 4 in a 1 bedroom (even if it is a largely unenforced rule), it wouldn't be nearly as attractive to us.

If you do join, go armed with a referring family's name. Honestly, we knew from our honeymoon 7 yrs ago we were going to do this, it was just a matter of (financially) when. However....

When we went for the tour this time (just for the fun, because kids were at home with grandparents) we ended up doing it now (well, last Feb) because of all the incentives. We got $10 off per point, plus 100 developer points plus all of last years 2007 points in addition to this year's 2008 points. They told us, we got the developer points for having someone refer us.

Now, maybe they were pulling our leg, who knows? But suposedly, it did help. Plus the family we named got $250 in Disney dollars for referring us, so we helped out a friend too.

In any case, Good luck!

Any families of 5 or more going next year and taking advantage of that great 3 free days deal? Wondering if 2 rooms at a value wouldn't be so much money then!

We are a family of 5. We have taken grandparents and got 2 adjoining rooms at AsMo. Grandparents paid for all their trip costs. We will be using POR for awhile. My DD did not mind sleeping on the trundle and we loved the landscaping- so peaceful. We are looking into buying DVC in a few years so that may be what we end up with in the long run, but for now we are happy with POR!

We have 3 kids and just have chosen to stay off site from now on. As others have said, the rooms that allow 5 are just too small and we really don't care to pay close $200/night with tax for 2 value rooms.

Spreading out in a 2 bedroom condo with a full kitchen and at least 2 TVs has been our choice for years now.

Everyone has given you all the different possibilities for staying at Disney. When traveling elsewhere we use Embassy Suites because all the rooms will fit our family. You will find yourself adjusting alot, once you have a family of 5. There are fewer tables in restuarants that fit your family, hotels, and car rentals change because of the number of people you need to accomodate. Congratulations and enjoy your family.

I just read that Disney is finishing the other half of Pop Century - the Classic Years 1900-1940s and that it will have a lot of the family suites that All Star Music has since they are so popular. I think I read it at www.allearsnet.com.

Family of 5 here.

On our last trip, DD was only 2, so she didn't count in the tally. The five of us stayed at Pop for one night. It was crowded due to luggage!

The second night through the rest of the trip we stayed at Saratoga Springs. (my parents own DVC). Talk about spoiled! Wow - what a difference. We don't stay at the resort much more than to sleep, shower, but it was just so nice to be able to spread out a little.

If it's possible, buy or rent DVC.
