Does your kids still receive stuff from Santa on Christmas or is that they’re Christmas present. I can understand the big kids but what about the little kids.

We spent Christmas at WDW last year with my whole family. My dd7 was the only child. I brought everyone's stockings with fun stuffers from home (cds, gift cards, etc.) We also brought a miniature tree from home. When we got there we exchanged names and each person had to buy a disney ornament for the person whose name they drew. We explained to our dd that Santa knew we wouldn't be able to travel with a lot of gifts, and that he was leaving her big present at our house. (She got a bike.) Other than that, we didn't do any gift exchanges or major present opening. It was a wonderful Christmas for that reason, b/c we all just really enjoyed each other's company without being totally encompassed by the craziness that usually goes with the season. Have fun! :santa:

Thanks for the replay....I was just curious on what people were doing. Were thinking of going there next year for Christmas.

Hi,

We'll be in WDW Dec. 10-20th, so we will be back home for Christmas Day. We have told our children (ages 7, 5, and 2), that their Christmas present from Mom and Dad is our trip to WDW (and the spending $$ they get to use, which is a set amount). The older two understand that, since they are very good about understanding that a trip like this is a big deal. The youngest wouldn't know if Mom and Dad got him something or not anyway.

Santa will still come, giving each child one nice present on Christmas morning. They'll also have lots of gifts from other relatives. So it will be similar to other Christmases with the exception of gifts from us. Hope that helps! :)

Hi,

We vacation every Christmas and the entire family comes along....like all 20 of us (from a few months old to early 70's), sometimes we have a member or too opt out for this or that reason but.....as a family, we always give gifts to each member of the family, even if its something small, as its the thought that counts!

The older children understand that each year it will be a small Christmas due to the vacation but they are all right with that and have said numerous times they would rather vacation at Disney then have a ton of expensive gifts and not go.....we always find that Santa leaves a few presents (its always one big one and two or three little ones) at home under the tree.....we take along a garland filled with lights and a small tree (complete with lights (that have been twist tied on) and ornaments) along to make it more festive because we found it difficult to decorate the palm tree in our villa and make it look like a Christmas tree....lol....(the kids love to hang the ornaments after we get settled in) and we bring each family members stocking....The next morning, each family member finds a few little things in their stockings from Santa. The adults find one thing under the tree from Santa. The children find one nice thing and a few small things under the tree from Santa. Since Santa knows that we are all on vacation, he leaves their presents at their homes and drops a few off at our vacation spot so that they know Santa was thinking of them and did not forget them. And with 20 family members (sometimes) there, they have an additional 20 small presents too......it has always worked out great and everyone is happy, even the bigger kids!

We drive so it's easy to bring extra stuff. When we were there on Christmas Eve I brought the smaller presents with us in a suitcase. We also had a small tree with Disney ornaments, we had our stockings and the hangers, lights for our balcony/patio. We left a note for Santa at home that we would be at WDW and he could bring the smaller things there if he wanted to and leave the bigger things at home. We picked our son up at daycare after school and he didn't get to go home before we left. I put the big things out under the tree, so when we got home a few days after Christmas we had Christmas again.

Great thing to add! DD writes Santa a note every Xmas Eve (doing it early this year) and we'll have to include tha this year. Thanks for the idea!

We will be at WDW for Christmas this year(me, DH, DS, DD, my parents, my sister and brother in law). This trip is our Christmas present to the kids and my other family members will buy things for the kids when we are down in WDW. Right before we leave my mom is shipping some presents to my MIL so that while we are gone my MIL can go in the house and set them up like Santa visited while we were gone. I think the kids will be excited to get home and see he didn't forget them.
