We are going on our first Disney cruise in March (Western Caribbean). Researching the ports and ideas of what to do at each. Sounds like that Falmouth Jamaica is not a very popular stop. Would you recommend just staying on the ship or do one of those Resort for the Day (if so, which one)? We have a 4 and a 9 year old.

Any port activities recommendations appreciated (Cozumel, Grand Cayman & Falmouth Jamaica)!

Thanks!

I went ashore and had great beef patties and a Ting then went to the Duty Free and Margaritaville. Other than that, I wasn't impressed. Next year we're going to leave the gates and go across the street to one of the more local restaurants.

I'm not an excursion-type traveler (I hate being on buses), so Resort for the Day doesn't appeal to me at all.

I've been twice. The first time we went with a local tour agent, and loved our day. We went to the Blue Hole (you don't have to jump in the river, but we did and it was a blast), and then went river tubing - also fun. The other people on the tour did the Blue Hole and the walk up Dunn River Falls. We also ate at a local place (Scotchies)and had jerked chicken, then stopped at a souvenir shop that had a bunch of stuff, then got on the ship.

The tour agency we used was: Courtney Taylor Tours. Here is the TripAdvisor page with reviews

This year (first week in December) we did a Royal Caribbean Ship Excursion that included a trip to Dunns River Falls and a trip to the beach where we were served unlimited drinks, swam in the ocean, and were served lunch.

We felt totally safe on both excursions, and had fun on both. I would recommend either one, with the Courtney Taylor Tour getting the edge.

Resort of the day for sure, we did Jewel Runaway bay resort which has a water park, a gorgeous beach, and pools, and all inclusive. Have grandma and 8 and 6 year old girls. Additionally the 45 minute drive there and back was gorgeous and a good way to see island landscapes. Our favorite excursion by far on the western route. Couldn't imagine staying on ship and bypassing this if we go back

We also did the same Resort for a Day excursion to Jewel Runaway (as above poster) and thought it was terrific and good value. Went with myself, husband and kids ages 10, 10, and 7. Everyone was very happy.

Thanks for all the info! For Jewel Runaway - did you book thru a third party or directly with the resort?
