According to the Dis (usually pretty reliable:))...

HM will be down 8/30-9/16, as expected for the holiday overlay
Toy Story will be down 8/30-10/10. I'm totally bummed that I'll miss Toy Story on my upcoming trip.

they are already refurbing toy story, it is still pretty new, and they just added new stuff for toy story 3, what are they going to do to it???

HTH :earsboy:

There were some rumors (maybe on the Christmas thread?) about TSMM getting a holiday overlay. But Sept & Oct seems a little early.

So far we will only be missing Star Tours (bummed since DNephew is a star wars freak) and Roger Rabbit (no biggie!)!!!

WDWs TSMM is also going down for refurb this fall....:confused3

Yes and no. The info about the Halloween and Christmas overlays for TSMM originated with a HydroGuy post, and he got it from, I think, an Al Lutz article about the installation of the new TSMM game which was added last month, and how easy it is to swap games in the ride or to do an overlay. (I think it was an Al article, if not something else on Micechat.) Apparently, TSMM is already set up to get Halloween and Christmas treatments, and Mr. Potato Head has already been programmed with customized banter/dialogue for those holidays, including Christmas carols, etc.

But I don't think it would take over one month to install any kind of holiday overlay in TSMM and I don't think they would do an overlay this soon, with all the focus on WoC in the Paradise Pier area. So they must be doing some other kind of work in the ride.

I'm also surprised to see that HM will be down for busy Labor Day weekend. I thought for sure they would wait until immediately after Labor Day to shut down HM for the overlay. So TSMM, HM and Star Tours are all down for Labor Day and beyond.

I'm also surprised to see that Car Toon Spin is going to be down for almost 3 months. I know many folks don't care about that ride one way or the other (I love it but sometimes skip it), but I wonder what they are doing to it that will take almost 3 months. And all of the Main Street transportation is out for most of September. What's up with that? (Not that I ever ride any of it, but it's odd that it's all going to be closed for most of September).

Anyway, I'm glad to know all of this. TSMM is one of my top 2 favorite rides in DLR, and I had been considering doing a HalloweenTime DLR visit in late September. I would rather wait until TSMM is back up and running, so....looks like HalloweenTime will be in October for me!

What are they thinking on closing TSMM during labor day weekend and Disneyland half marathon is that weekend also. I am so bummed!!:sad2:

October has become so busy, that I think they've had to push refurbs earlier in the year. Maybe this means that Labor Day is actually less busy than the second half of October? Strange...but possibly true.

I'm disappointed to see this closed for when we go - I find it a lot of fun and "unique" - especially as it's a ride that can't be found in Disneyland Paris.

With many schools starting back mid-August...my guess is the second half of August - Labor Day just isn't as busy as it one was, when schools all went back after Labor Day

Hmmm....maybe TSMM being down means they are refurbing the line area to allow for FP??????? One can always hope (& dream!!) :joker:

Also, Roger Rabbit seems to always be broken when we try to ride it, so perhaps the 3 month re-furb will make it a more reliable ride?

I think both of those ideas sound great! Let's hope! Let's cross our fingers and hope for a TSMM FP!!:cool1: Otherwise, unless the technology and mechanics of the ride are just totally askew (after only being open since 2008), I can't imagine what would take over a month to do in TSMM.

And you're right - it does sound like Roger Rabbit is closed a lot of the time. So I guess whatever it is that needs fixing must be pretty big and long overdue, and it very well may be more reliable after it's all finished.

i doubt there is a TSMM FP. THere is simply just no room for it anywhere... esp for a 2nd line...

You guys forget, TSMM trains are fairly new design. They have yet to know how it wears and tears...

I agree with the pp, there is barely any room for a FP machine and a second line. With FPs and the 2nd line, it might cause even longer lines for TSMM just like at DHS.

Have you seen the lines at DHS TSMM that has FP machines. I was just there three months ago and when I was in the park the first thing in the morning, people were heading over to TSMM just like DCA first thing in the morning and were going for the FPs for TSMM and ride it. Later during the day, the FP was already gone around 11 to noon. I have seen the stand-by line all the way up to 150 min wait.

Thought it would be fun to jump in with some of my own speculation. This closure suggests to my mind that there may be some sort of road or track work being done along Main Street during September. Or maybe some other sort of minor construction/repair along Main Street that it's just better to not have the Main Street vehicles out for. Because it seems to me that even if the vehicles themselves need work done, there's no reason to pull them all out of service at once just for that.

Awwww I'm so bummed!! Will be there labor day weekend- every time we've visited, HM is closed. I have yet to experience DL HM!!! Is there much difference from the WDW version? I was hoping they'd keep it open through labor day!! :(
