Fair price for reservation points?

Hi all,

Here's the backstory: we had a trip to Disney planned for January 2011, but had to cancel due to work vacation conflicts :sad2: . We then booked a trip to Washington DC using the Concierge Collection and therefore converted our vacation points into reservation points. Now, due to work again we may not be able to go to Washington and I am debating renting the points if the vacation falls through. I'm wondering, what's a fair asking price for reservation points since they aren't as flexible as vacation points? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think "fair price" is really applicable. If you want to get anything at all for those points, you'll have to compete with Disney.

Look at the price Disney is charging for a room at one of the Deluxe resorts. You'll want to look at the CRO discounted price and then figure out how much of a reduction you'll have to give to entice someone to take the risk of reserving through you rather than Disney directly. Be sure to include tax on the Disney / CRO price. (You don't have to pay room tax when you use points so that will help some) Then take that price and dived it by the number of points it takes to reserve it. That will be your price per point.

FWIW, I don't think you will get much more than dues covered for the reservation point. Are you sure you can't swing another trip somewhere and use the points yourself?

Good luck, whatever you decide.
