Face painting options

I am annoying myself trying to decide what to do about face painting when we go the MNSSHP this Oct, maybe you can help me decide :artist:

Our costumes are Me: White Rabbit, DD11: Cheshire Cat, BFF 11: Mad Hatter
They used to have face painting at MK so I at first thought we could just go a bit early and get something done. I hear they have no facepainting at MK now, so that is out. My options now seem to be:

1) go early to DD and get some thing done there. We would have to travel by bus from ASMu to DD and then back to MK. Seems like a lot of travel to me.

2)I could buy the hopper option for the BFF's ticket and we could go to HS which is more on the way to MK, thereby cutting down travel time. Cost $20 for the ticket upgrade

3) Do the face painting myself in room, which would be "ok" Im not an artist but I could do a fair job of it.

If you say "skip it" you obviously didn't buy into my face painting mania :lmao:

I think you should do it yourself. Just practice beforehand.

I'm not even sure the DD or HS places would do what you want. I dont remember it being like that. I just remember certain designs they will do, like butterfly faces and rainbow faces.

>>.

They will customize if you ask :) Last time we did this the ladies at MK did completely awesome Siamese cats. I was thinking we would want something in the colors of their outfits, with some swirls and glitter. They want "pretty", and I want mine done in reds and pinks to look like I've been up/awake a really long time...

I wish I felt like I could do an awesome job instead of just ok.

Could you try the exact design you want beforehand? Then if you feel like if it's just really not going to be perfect, you could add on the trip to the professionals before the party.

I completely understand this. I've gone to some crazy lengths for a disney costume!

Watch some videos on Youtube and brush up on your skills. I LOVED when MNSSHP included face painting for free, we didn't see them last year but maybe they still have it throughout the park? We always went straight there after having dinner and had the kids faces painted to match their costumes. They were always so perfect looking.....they did a great job. They have suggested designs on the boards by the face painting stands but without asking they suggested matching the kids costumes (Pirate and Tigger, Tinkerbell and a girl Pirate).

I did a search on came up with a thread with some good pictures so I might try :) I wish it was easier to get to Downtown Disney and back to MK. If it wouldn't take more than an hour I'd just do that :moped:

Thats what I wish I could do! But there are no painters anywhere in MK at all right now.

Maybe I should ask what anyone thinks the time frame for option 1 would be. I'm not sure how long it would take to ride the bus from ASMu to Downtown Disney, get the painting done and then take the bus to MK. That really seems to be a lot of effort/time

Transportation Wizard This is actually pretty helpful when you're trying to figure out getting from one WDW place to another and the time/buses...etc involved :).

So they don't have face painting at all on MNSSHP nights anymore? That was always so fun.....I remember the first year we went and they had face painting and a photo for each person. We left with FULL bags of candy and only made 1 trip through each TOT spot. Things have obviously been cut back a bit LOL

Definitely do it yourself! It isn't worth the extra money to pay to have it done, nor is it worth it to spend so much extra time going to a special location to have it done. Your time is valuable! :)
