Fabric painting?

Hi all. I have been wanting to try my hand at painting fabric, pillows or possibly tank tops, etc., things like that. I have ideas in my head, but have absolutely no idea what kind of paint to use, etc. etc. There are craft stores by me but I go there and feel overwhelmed. If you guys can even recommend brands, etc., do you seal them or does the paint stand up to washing? I have this thing for dragonflies, hummingbirds, etc., etc., Koi etc, and was thinking of painting small pictures on pillows or even plain tank tops, T-shirts, etc. Any brands of paints I should start with? Thanks for any tips.
