I found a news release from November 2017 that mentioned toll roads in Orlando area operated by CFX will begin accepting EZ Pass beginning early Spring of 2018. I was wondering if the locals have heard any recent updates (ie: estimated date). I have so far resisted purchasing an E-Pass or Sunpass during previous trips to WDW because they are primarily for FL tolls. However, if EZ Pass will be accepted by the summer, I might consider getting an EZ Pass as I visit the Northeast (used to live there) more often than FL.

This may have been the press release, which is dated November 9, 2017:

I'm usually really good at ferreting information online about these sorts of things. Unfortunately, I didn't have much luck. Your best bet to getting an answer may be to ask directly. Here's the contact information page for the Central Florida Expressway Authority. You can call, email, or use their web form. In the upper right corner, they show Twitter and Facebook icons. You may be able to ask a question via one of those platforms.

There was a legislated mandate to have all toll systems work together in 2016, but it didn't happen:

In 2012 Congress passed a law requiring the nation's various electronic tolling authorities to come together and make their systems interoperable by October 2016.

So they have to eventually do this, but its taking a ridiculously long time. I sucked it up and bough the $5 SunPass Mini Sticker Transponder. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that the spring 2018 deadline comes and goes without anything changing.
