Eyeglasses at the water Parks

I've never been to the Water Parks and now that the kids are old enough they really want to go.

I wear glasses, no contact lenses. I'm a bit near sighted and without the glasses everything is fuzzy.

How do other people deal with glasses at the water park? Or do people that wear glasses just not go to the water parks? Or go and don't go on any of the slides etc..?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I go and see things fuzzy! I leave my glasses in the bag by my seat.

I just squint alot and leave my glasses in the locker. The water parks are too fun to pass up!! Especially TL, that's my favorite.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 7 yrs old! I'm far sided in one eye, near sided in the other and have astigmatism (sp?) on top of it!!! I've tried contacts 3 different times and just doesn't work for me! Last year when we went to BB I wore my glasses ALL the time. DH and I both wear glasses so unless we're doing one of the major water slides, (Summitt Plummit) we wear them even on the rides. We have been white water rafting down the Ocoee River several times and wear them then too but use the cord straps. Also use the straps when we're in the ocean in case a wave knocks us down.

We have a time share condo in Panama City Beach, FL that we go to almost every year. We ALWAYS go to Shipwreck Island and other than one ride, we can wear our glasses there too. We just leave them in the little cubby holes at the beginning fo the ride where you pick up the intertube and we're good to go. Can't see far but that's ok........it's worth it!!

I've even carried a waterproof camera on the rides before. Love taking pix o my girls as they go backwards down the family intertub rides!!!

Have fun!!

I wore glasses two years ago when I went (like you I couldn't wear contact lenses) We did both waterparks. I had to keep my glasses on so I could see my kids. However if we went on the slides or anything I just held them in my hand until we came off. It was a pain but i lived with it, i had tons of fun! Don't let the fact you wear glasses ruin your chance for a good time. And in the future if you can ever afford to get Laser Eye Surgery it's so well worth it, I am looking forward to not having to wear any this year!!!!

I was terribly nearsighted and couldn't wear contacts full time but i got some just to wear for waterparks.
If i was only slightly nearsighted i would not wear glasses.
Carrying them in hand or wearing them (with cord) risks damaging them. Sometimes the water pressure is so great plunging into the water that glasses are pulled off your head.

I wore mine to Typhoon Lagoon. I am so nearsighted I cannot stand it if I don't have them on. Also, for some strange reason I can't hear if I don't have on my glasses! I always take my previous pair of glasses when I go on vacation. That way if I lose my pair I have a backup. When I went to Typhoon Lagoon I wore the old pair. They never came off once.

I bought a plastic glass case that hangs around your neck. I just saw them for sale at Typhoon Lagoon. I would grab it in my hand when I crossed them over my chest.

I had LASIK, so no more worries. I have been to Blizzard Beach all blurry-eyed. I did not enjoy it very much. I would try to fogure out a way to use my glasses as much as possible. Laz has a great idea.

That's so funny because I'm the same way. I can't see, hear or think w/o my contacts or glasses!

I too am terrible near sighted. Due to allergy I can't use contact lenses, and I'm half blind without my glasses. Then a couple of years ago I got a pair of prescription swim goggles. This did the trick.

I don't have to worry about loosing my glasses or bumping into things I can't see and as an added bonus I don't get water in my eyes. :smooth:

Now I actually got two pairs, because I recently got another pair with build in sunglasses to use on the beach. :sunny:

Only 21 days to go....... :earsgirl:

You need a Croakie. A real one, name brand (sporting goods stores sell them.) They stay on your glasses properly even if you get hit with a hard wave, and they are bouyant enough to make your glasses float if they do come off.

I wear glasses, but I do have contacts that I put on for the water parks and all the regular parks for that matter. I'm completely blind and not wearing glasses or contacts wouldn't be an option for me.

Here are a few thoughts:

Maybe get a case that you can wear around your neck (like the ones they sell that you can put money in by big enough to fit glasses). That way, when you go on the slides you can put your glasses in there. I don't know if this would work on the speed slides, but everything else should be fine...

Or..., this may look dorky, but do they sell goggles that would fit over your glasses? Not my thing, but it is a thought.

I second this. A Croakie will hold them on your head tight. I used to use one for sports, and my glasses never slipped off. But then I got Lasik, and I don't have to deal with any of it anymore!

I third the croakie solution. They hold the glasses on your head tight or let you hang the glasses around your neck. This will work for sunglasses too.
