My daughter will soon be leaving for FA CP. We need to buy new glasses for her. Just came back from our first go at buying black conservative glasses. It is near impossible to find frames that are plain. How plain/conservative do they have to be? She usually wears contacts but when she's tired she wears her glasses, but has burgundy/red frames. Are there any former/current CP that wear glasses that can help us out. She goes to school 200 miles from home, and we only have 2 more weekends home for her to do this. Thank you so much.

Yes, the entire family is very excited and we have 2 trips planned in the next 6 months.

really, just use your judgment. Something that isn't hot pink and sparkly will be fine.

I've seen plenty of people working at Disney with logos on their frames. Mine had a logo there and no one ever told me I wasn't allowed to wear them...

I had a logo on my lens too and they never said anything about it. Logos are fine as long as they are not covering the whole lens, is what they told me.

Per the "Look Book" (costuming bible)
The frames and lenses of both eyeglasses and sunglasses should be a neutral color, such as black, brown, or metal rimmed (for frames), with a conservative style and no contrasting logos. Frames and lenses in shades such as blue, green, pink, yellow, etc. will not be permitted, as they are not neutral colors. Glasses and sunglasses should not detract from the costume or contradict the theme of the show. Pretty much use your judgement if you think there questionable they probably are. It's up to the managers in your area as to rather or not it works.

Thank you all. Ended up going to another Costco and found some nice black frames with a little metal on the sides and no visible logo.

And thank you to Scully12 for the examples. Unfortunately, there weren't any that simple at our first Costco. She was really liking a blue pair with faded greenlights;) but of course those were a no go.

those round black frames on your no list are an exact match to the ones my store manager (Ray) at the Emporium wore.

those look almost exactly like mine! lol. but i am planning on getting some black or brown frames just in case. and i think it would be better to have two pairs down there anyways, in case something happens to one of them. (i also wear contacts too, but i dont like to wear them ALL the time)

This is a super helpful thread. Thanks, guys. Looks like I need to do a little shopping.

What about sunglasses? What are the policies on them? I'm guessing/I think I have read that they are generally not allowed?

generally no, sunglasses are not allowed (they like eye contact) unless your role is one where you are in direct sunlight all day in which you can wear plain sunglasses that otheres can see your eyes through (no mirror black glass). even then, some departments may not allow them. best to check with your manager.

You can wear sunglasses if you are outdoors. They can't be big, have patterns/ornamentation on the sides, must be able to see your eyes (NO mirror) and meet with the Disney Look guidelines. Also, keep in mind that you cannot put the on your head or anywhere they are visible if they are not on your face, so they need to be able to fit into a pocket. Bear in mind, too, that they may very well fall OUT of said pocket :rolleyes1 and you will have to buy new ones. The good news is that Property Control sells sunglasses for fifty cents a pair.

If you wear prescription glasses, I would recommend Transitions lenses to avoid losing sunglasses. BTDT. One more thing...I just ordered 2 pairs from 39dollarglasses.com and am very happy with them. I got 2 pair, both with Transitions for $80 less than anyone around here wanted for 2 pair with ONE Transitions.
