Extra Tips When On Gold Or Silver Plan

On our upcoming trip we will be on the gold plan. I am wondering about tipping servers. I know that the servers get a 15% tip automatically and that that tip is included in the package. I do not know about extra tips. On the one hand, I want to reward great service. On the other, we will be ordering many more items and much more expensive items than we otherwise would, which effectively raises the tip amount. Any thoughts?

Also, are you presented a check when you are on the gold plan that gives you a place to write in an extra tip that would be charged back to your room or do we need extra cash on hand?

We always tipped a little extra for good service. Also, we tipped extra when we had alcoholic drinks because they are not included in the plan therefore the tip is not included. They do present you with a check and I'm sure you could write in a tip amount ...but don't quote me because we always tipped cash.

We also tipped extra a majority of the time - but definitely only do it if you feel it's necessary. Most of the time we'd just pay the difference to make the tip 20%, once or twice higher than that.

Once, at San Angel, our waitress was very busy (good service, just busy). When she brought our bill, she had forgotten the tip completely. We flagged her down and she said not to worry about it since she was busy. So we tipped the full amount anyway. I couldn't see not leaving her a tip!!

You'll get a check that you have to sign just like a credit card receipt and I'm pretty sure there's an extra space if you wanted to charge the tip to your room key. We also left cash, so I'm not 100% certain.

When paying for your meal with your Wishes, the receipt brought out will only need a signature. There is no space to write in an extra tip.

If you order alcohol or a meal that you don't want to pay for with your Wishes, you will be brought a seperate receipt and you can include a tip there.

15% gets added onto your Wishes receipt but not your alcohol or additional meal receipt. Most people that I have dealt with just leave additional cash.
