Extra Person at Old Key West 2 bedroom villa

I am in a similar situation.

Would a 1 bedroom and a studio connected work? I'm hoping that if I make the request stating that we have small children they will be able to give us a lock-off. It should only be about 30 more points.

I am one of those people who actually believed my guide and the legal department when they told me I could have 9 in a 2 bedroom. Of course, looking back I realize that *some* sales people will say anything to make a sale, but I actually thought that it would be safe because it's DISNEY. (can you tell I'm bitter?)

Anyway, off my soap box.... This will be our last trip when our littlest one is under 3. Next time, we will be in the same situation as you are.

Hope it works out for you

I wouldn't be bitter until they refuse your reservation for 9 in a 2 bedroom. My bet is they will accept it with children involved. If they accept 5 in a 1 bedroom and 4 in a studio, then it does not make sense that they will not accept 9 in a lockoff 2 bedroom.

Yes, I understand that. You are only allowed 8 in a 2 bedroom, but you are allowed 5 in a 1 bedroom and 4 in a studio, so even though it could be the same room a 1 bedroom plus a studio would not be breaking the rules.

BTW, if you have an "extra" person in your room, that person would not be eligble (sp?) for EMH or the extra hours at night. Considering my parents bought the points (we will pay the maintenance) so they could take us and our 5 children to Disney, it would be very difficult to decide who would be the one person not to be allowed to do the extra things.

Here is another option for you, if the crowding frightens you... A very short distance down the road is Port Orleans-Riverside. This resort is lovely and very reasonably priced. Your in-laws could spend all their time with you at OKW but have their own privacy at night, practically "right next door." We often spend our first night at Riverside to save points and then check into OKW the next morning as it is so close.

Also, 3 studios is pretty much the same points as a 2-bedroom but maximizes sleeping space. While you may not want to switch around so much this trip, keep this in mind for future trips. We get two studios instead of a 2-bedroom when we need more beds than living space and need to save points. And for what it is worth, our guide at purchase specifically mentioned bringing airbeds and having our group of SIX in a one-bedroom to save points! While I would NEVER do this (1 bathroom!!!) I seriously doubt Mickey will show up in the night and throw the elderly relatives out on the street.

Have a great time. Kids do well in sleeping bags. I won't tell and don't ever come back to this thread again!!!! I won't.

Officially, only 4 are allowed in a 1 bedroom and 8 in a 2 bedroom. But if they "bend" the rules to allow 5 in a 1 bedroom I don't see why they will not "bend" the rules to allow 9 in a 2 bedroom, especially when 5 are kids. It doesn't hurt to ask, especially when your guide and the legal dept told you it was OK. Booking a 1 bedroom and a studio separately to try to get around the rules would be risky, they may not be together.

I agree, and I think the answer here will be you CAN do this when 5 of them are children. The reason I mentioned EMH, is because the reports have been that they are not allowing ANYONE, even children in at EMH without a resort ID. If you only had 8 guests with resort IDs, one person isn't getting in to EMH. I agree that you should call MS and explain the situation. You have not said if one of the children is under 3. IF they are though, it is a moot point, because you would be within the posted limits.
