Extra Magic Hours

Does anyone know if they are still giving out braclets for the extra magic hours or are they just using your room key? Friends of ours just got back from Easter break and said that they weren't giving out braclets and just checking the room key. The park was very crowded and they never checked the room key Anyone else experience this? Thanks
