I have been noticing that most people on the Dis try to avoid EMHs in the parks. My family has always done this and plans to do them in our upcoming trip. I know that they recently changed them, but we did the EMH last year and never noticed extra crowds. However, everyone's posts have made me nervous. Our dates this year are September 28 through October 5. Should we change our plans to not include them? TIA!

I was wondering the same thing. We have never done EMH before so it will be new to us but after reading the posts I too am nervous. We have 2 evening
EMH planned and figure it's to late to change now since our ADR's are already set. The crowds worry me. We are going alone for our 25th anniversary and want to just realy relax and enjoy everything around us. We leave on Sept. 21 and recently found out we will be there durning the marathon. Our resort CSR is sold out for that weekend. Oh! that worries me too. We chose this time of year because of the crowd level. Now I'm not so sure.

Use the information you get from the Dis boards as a guideline not gospel.
I always go to the EMH both morning and evening. Sure there are extra people, but you can get around them and go to other areas of the park.
Or use the EMH to see the shows and do some shopping.
The Dis is a great tool, but you have to take responsibility for your own holiday and do as much as possible while at WDW.

all the best, have fun, see you there.

:thumbsup2 :cool1:

We were there in April, the week before Easter. CM’s told us it was one of the busiest weeks of the year. I have to say things were packed, but we had a great time. We worked around the lines and used a lot of fast passes. I had read a lot on the boards about EMH using vs not using. We opted to use all the EMH’s and had a back up plan, we had no problems with things being too crowded and actually rode more rides during EMH than during regular hours. DH even rode the thrill rides several times in a row with short waits. There is no harm in trying the EMH and having a plan b. Whatever you decide to do Good Luck. pixiedust:

Great advice! You also have to take it with a grain of salt, The DIS that is. :thumbsup2

PraiseHim, Congrats on your 25th anniversary. How cool is that!! Hmm, now, what is this about a marathon? I never heard of it. I am staying at the Pop. Leaving the same day you do. I also have 2 night time EMH, planned. I was not really worried about crowds, until you mentioned a marathon. How will that affect our touring plans. Where will the marathon be held?? :confused3 TIA

I was wrong it's a triathalon and its on the 24th. There is a thread called Just read triathalon is on 25th of Sept. Check it out. there is more info there. It seems to be Epcot is the only park effected. I am still a little concerened about the crowds but will have a great time anyway with my honey. I am sticking to our plans and go with the flow. We will all have a great time.

we just did emh last week for the first time (mk & epcot). i don't know how they worked in the past, but they were not giving out fast passes. the wait times were not too outrageous (30-40 min at the mk) but that is what they were during most of the daytime. we got more done during the day by using fast passes, but this was just our experience.

Shhhhh, :ssst: don't say anything, but if everyone keeps reading these boards and hears they should avoid EMH's then it won't be crowded for those of us who do the EMH's.

Seriously, I think it's what you make of it. Back up plans are a great thing to have. Park hopper tickets are an even better thing to have (IMHO).

Have a great time. :thumbsup2

I agree with magicaldisney about the parkhopper option. The best advice! It's nice to have that flexibility to go to another park. I also agree with magicaldisney that I'm leary to suggest to others to use the EMHs - b/c DW and I LOVE LOVE the EMHs. :cool1: Especially the evening hours. In Jan we were able to do ToT and RnRC 10x total during Disney-MGM evening EMHs. And this time around we could only do it 6x total...but it's all good!

PrincessJen09 - I say keep the EMHs in your schedule, but also be flexible. I've had to change this trips itinery several times...we're on version 4.8, I think. :rotfl2: Sorry it's mostly an inside joke with DW and I as I'm the Type-A HUGE Disney planner. :rotfl: but my point is be flexible while in Disney b/c you never know what will happen - rain for example or a character you didn't expect. So go to the World and have fun!!!!! :cool1:

We never did stay for any of the EMH, but this trip coming up I think we'll give it a try. Extra hours in the park, whats not good? :teeth:
