"Extra" EMH for GotG

While looking at the Disney Parks Blog I saw this. An extra hour at night for onsite guests. Sorry if it's been posted already

YESSS !!!!! :worship: That's nice !!! :teeth: It's only 1 hour AFTER CLOSING but still a small advantage for ONSITE GUESTS ONLY !!! :thanks: :love2:
A very short window of opportunity (July 23rd thru August 30th) I think maybe they are experimenting cuz they NEVER do this. Usually WDW does this but they have been slowly discontinuing it lately!
It's only for CA but wish it extended for DL. Am I misunderstanding this? :rolleyes1 It really would help the onsite guest for DL cuz the neighboring hotel guests take up a lot of the TIME for the morning MM/EMH .

It's just an extra hour for the Guardians ride at DCA. The post doesn't indicate that any other attractions will necessarily be open and available although they certainly could be. It's a nice perk for on-site guests who might want to defer their Guardian ride until the end of the day. They offered special Guardians fastpasses for AP holders last month as a surprise AP benefit if you happened to be in the park at the right place and time in the afternoon. Those fastpasses were good for after park closing too. I think the window was 9:30-10:30 PM on a 10 PM closing night.

I'm not sure an extra magic hour at DL would be all that useful since the DL park closes at 11 PM or midnight during summer already.

Why would it not be useful at DL? I found it quite useful at WDW when they offered evening EMH whenever they had regular closing time. Although because they NOW have FP+ (the reason we haven't used EMH last time we were there) maybe that is why they are trying to discontinue it there BUT we in DL only usually offer this for AM that is why I like it!
I am a DVC member and a local so ANY ONSITE perk is advantage to me!

I guess I was just wondering about the demand for a DL after-park closing magic hour at a time of year when the park closes at 11 PM or midnight. Maybe during times of the year with earlier closings, it might be more useful. Must just be a personal preference, but I find it hard to imagine wanting to stay in the park until 1 AM and then have a good start on the next day, but maybe a night owl would like that and then not bother with morning hours at the parks.

I'm like you and prefer the quiet morning hours, but I know a lot of people who like to sleep in and stay late. I could see those kind of park goers enjoying the extra hour.

That said, this is a nice little treat they're offering and helps takes little of the sting out the MaxPass stuff for me. That said, the popularity will need to die down for it to be affective. As long as somebody is in line before the park closes, they can ride; if it's a long line the extra hour doesn't really help. But I guess time will tell.

I thought of that too. Seems the only way it would work is if they capped the line at some point and "closed" the ride like gets done for California Screamin' so it can close in time for the WoC show each night. Then they can get all the non-hotel people off the ride by closing time and the hotel guests get the special hour to themselves. That of course could have the effect of reducing overall ride capacity for that ride, especially at nighttime.

I've been in Magic Kingdom until almost 4am (3am park close and then lots of photos down Main Street and we made an 8:30am breakfast reservation at another park. For us, late nights are wonderful as we are night owls. Usually we would have slept in however since Disney changed the hours on us the week before, our reservations were already made.
