Extra Costs for Intimate?

Hi everyone,

My DBF just proposed on our recent Disney trip. We had been talking about getting married at Disney before he asked, and went back and forth between an intimate and having a very small affair in my hometown. Before Disney we had decided on home, but after our trip we'd like to do all we can to make it happen at Disney.

I've been reading the boards religiously though, and I remember quite a few people being upset that the price quoted in the contract was much higher than the estimates from the wish book. So my question is: what are these extra costs. Are they for additional parent albums for photos? Are they hidden charges?

I also don't have a clue what it would cost for cosmetology (I've never had makeup done by anyone but me) or hair. Does anyone have any insight on these? Are there other costs like dress steaming etc., that I'm forgetting? I'm SO clueless about weddings. We kind of have a maximum number that is do-able, and so the wedding has to fit the budget. But it seems difficult to get actual numbers.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Here's an idea of some of the costs we've determined for our wedding:

Our Package at Sunset Point was quoted at $2450, that's for the package they advertise on the website. (If you're looking at a 2007 wedding, prices/package details may change.) The package listings on the website are:

2006 Intimate Wedding Package Elements:
A magical setting of your choosing selected from five enchanting environments.
A fresh floral bouquet for the bride and a fresh flower boutonniere for the groom.
An elegant two tiered wedding cake with keepsake cake topper and one bottle of Fairy Tale Cuvee for your champagne toast.
A Violinist for your ceremony and reception.
A four (4) consecutive hour limousine charter for transportation on your wedding day for you and your guests.
A professional Disney Photographer to capture your ceremony and reception.
Twenty (20) photographs in an ivory, embossed portfolio album along with a low resolution CD of images.
Includes an Intimate Wedding Coordinator to help plan and execute your wedding.
A personalized wedding website.
A Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Wedding Certificate
Please Note: A four night minimum advance reservation is required at a Disney owned and operated resort.
Additionally, you may choose to add special features to enhance your wedding celebration.

Other costs are:

We have Teresa Knox officiating, her fee is $175

I'm having Anna from Makeover Magic do my hair and make-up, she's charging $130 as she has to come early as I'm having the Magic Kingdom Bridal Photos done before the wedding. (Her normal fee is $115)

I believe the Magic Kindom Photo Session is $800.

Dress Steaming is extra, but I haven't looked into that yet.

We're also having a meal after our wedding. My wedding is at 9am, so we're looking at 1900 Park Fare for Breakfast afterwards.

Oh, and of course the fee for the Marriage Licence, hotel costs and ticket costs. (I'm sure I'm forgetting something ....)

We are having an Intimate too, but at the WP, so its 3250.00-

Our extras are:
125 - upgrade cake
175 - extra hour of photography
250 - copy of all proofs
50 - mixed sodas for cake cutting, instead of champagne

Hope that helps!!!

Thank you both for you reply. Everyone here is just so helpful. I don't know what I'd do without this site!

We had an intimate at SBP. Some of our additional costs were:
Chocolate castle cake topper $100
Marriage license done by mail $100+
Additional flowers $75 approx.
MK photo shoot
Randy Chapman $600
Wire carriage with flowers for a centerpiece $100 I think
Chocolate favors $65
Cosmotology $100
Dress steaming can't remember
Additional limo time $100
Dinnar at YSH $1100
Plus staying at the Contemporary and a Garden Suite at the Boardwalk for a week.

The extra costs really depend on what you decide you can't live without.

Our dinner at Yachtsman added about $800.
Randy another $750 or so (extra hour and B&Ws)
Lisa $125 each (I think) hair and makeup.
Dress Steaming worth every penny, I don't remember the cost but deffinatly do it. You'll be much less worried about what happens to your dress in transit if you know it's getting steamed before the ceramony.
Second cake $125.
Wishes welcome party $500ish.
Gift bags all together for 9 people and 2 couples so 11 bags was probably about $200 when it was all said and done. And they were well loved by everyone, so I figure it was worth it.
Newsletters (3), invitations, stamps probably another $50.
At home reception $1200 plus another $100 in invites, and thank you notes.

Other options are wishes/illuminations cruises, dessert parties, mickey's christmas party or halloween party, welcome parties, the list just goes on and on. Basically it's truely what you want. We did do Mickey's Christmas party but everyone paid their own way, and it was still great fun.
