extra adults in room

I don't think we've ever stayed more than two adults in a room (besides DVC) so when I booked our girls-only trip, which includes a night at AKL, I was a bit surprised to learn about the extra charge per adult. Is this just AKL or all the resorts?

Its all resorts...
$10.00/night at values
$15.00 for moderates and
$25.00 for Deluxe

Most hotels apply this charge, not just Disney.

I was aware that most hotels did this, but was never sure of the reason. Is it just a way to charge more money, or do they think an adult will use more water for a shower than say a 17 year old? I think it's just an excuse to charge more money when all is said and done. :)

Does the Dolphin charge $25 per extra adult too?

Unfortunately, yes they do. Now try adding two additional adults to the ressie. Now that's a budget buster.

Hi just wanted you to know that we had an extra adult stay in our room. When we booked we did not know if our friend was able to come with us. At the last minute she decided to come, and Disney did not charge for her we were at CSR, so at the front desk we added our friends name and asked how much it would cost, she quoted the price but said don't worry about it.

Ditto! Our last-minute guest was my MIL. We added her name at the front desk upon checking in at the CR. Same outcome as above....asked what additional charge would be, but was told not to worry about it. We were given room keys for each guest in our party (one for me, DH, DD and MIL). When the final bill arrived on the day we checked out we definitely had not been charged for the additional adult (just as our check-in CM said). This was lucky for us since we had already taken the front desk CM at her word and spent the budgeted funds for the extra adult guest on a couple of extra table-service meals during our stay. ;)

Actually you have it backwards. There is really no reason NOT to charge the extra fee for a 17 year old. Many resorts charge for teenagers, Disney tries to give families a break.

Actually no, the price is based on "double occupancy" meaning two adults per room, children 17 and under stay free!! Each additional adult is charged according to the $ posted above. I have stayed at a few resorts where they do charge for children(one was in AZ!) :(

Thanks for the insight Lewisc and tjmw2727. I just assumed that it was for the extra amenities an adult might use. We always look and stay in a hotel where children under 18 stay free. :)
