extended warranty for Nook

I have decided to purchase a Nook for Dh for Christmas (hehe he is on the couch as I type this). Getting him the 3G because he travels and I want him to be able to get a book from anywhere.

I just learned they have an extended warranty that I can buy for $49 it covers for 2 years....

What is everybody's thoughts...is it wise to buy it, or should I save the money.

(I bought the 2 yr extended when I bought my wii because the clerk talked me into it - never used it)

Do they really get damaged that easy?

I purchased my nook back in September and I bought a warrenty through Square Trade. I have heard great reviews about them and they cover everything, not just mechanical, in case you drop it, get it wet, etc. It only cost me $21 for 2 years. I do think it is a good idea to get a warrenty for it, even though you may not use it since it is something that he is going to be carrying with him and used alot. Hope this helps.

Definitely get it through squaretrade.com Look around for a discount code. I think I paid $27 for a 3 year warranty including accidental damage.

I agree. I bought the warranty for mine through B&N. I travel a lot so it made sense because they cover accidental damage such as dropping/getting it wet.

I don't plan on activating the Nook until after Christmas...do I have to buy the warranty now?

I think through squaretrade you have 60 or 90 (can't remember) to buy a warrenty after you buy the nook.
