Just called and extended our stay from 7 nights to 11 nights in August. I still only plan on doing the parks 5-6 days at most. We just wanted time to take in the whole resort and enjoy the r&r as much as possible. My ds has hfa/aspergers and we thought this would be a great resort just for him and my dd just to chill out at, without always going to the parks. Between the pools & the beach it looks like they'll have an awesome time. These great poly threads made me want to extend the stay even more. Thanks for all the great pics on those threads!

You're absolutely not nuts to do this. :goodvibes My daughter (PDD) and I stayed at the Poly for 7 nights last August and wished we could have stayed longer. We were going to stay at the Poly for 11 nights around Christmas but had to cut it back to 8 nights due to cost. The Poly is just awesome to 'chill' at and not even do the parks. We try but we always wind up going to the MK to check out a stage show.

You are definitely NOT nuts! One of the things about the Polynesian resort is that it's such a great place in and of itself, I sometimes hate leaving it each day to go to the parks! LOL You will love having those extra days to just enjoy the resort itself!!! :sunny:

We stayed there 10 nights last summer and we weren't nuts at the end. :-) One survives, muddles through, makes the best of it. It was hard work but somebody has to do it.

Wow good for you! You're not nuts. Definitely not. I'm jealous. We're only staying for 7 nights.

:lmao: You poor thing, having to spend 10 nights at the Polynesian Resort! :cool2:

You are not nuts at all!!!! If we could swing 11 nights we would be there that long too! We have to settle for only 5. Relax and ENJOY!!!!

Thanks so much for the responses. I am looking forward to it. Hopefully my kids will enjoy all that beautiful resort has to offer as well. :goodvibes

The Poly seems to the resort of choice for many of us ASD moms. :)

:goodvibes Nuts? Heck no! Lucky? Yes! I wish we could. Unfortunately, as the kids get older, their activities and school limit our time with Mickey. We LOVE the Polynesian.

My good friend has 2 boys with Asperger's syndrome. They didn't stay at the Poly, although they loved it, but WDW was so wonderful for them. Seems to be just the right amount of stimulation for them. Enjoy!!!:goodvibes

I've stayed there and many other resorts 14 days, and do it all the time. If you're nuts *** does that make me?

Oh, I love the Poly.:cloud9: We are staying 9 nights this June as a kind of "going away" trip. We moved to Singapore and won't be back to Disney for several years. This will be a special trip. I'd love to stay longer.

Not nuts in my book!

But, do you do laundry when you stay that long??? I'm trying to figure out how to get out of laundry. :laundy:

I hadn't thought of this before but yes--it seems a lot of ASD moms choose this resort. I asked my daughter last night what her favorite WDW resorts are and she said the Polynesian and Pop. :goodvibes

We stayed at the Poly last Feb and had such a great time that we're going again in April. My DS8 has ADHD and a Nonverbal learning disorder (has similarities to Asberger's). One thing I learned last trip is to really listen to what his pace needs to be. I really overdid my commando-style planning, maybe being a bit in denial about how it would all affect DS. I learned some nights it's better to just hang by the pool and get counter service dinner at Capt. Cook's, rather than go to a character dinner after being at the parks (way too overstimulating). Also, for us, OHana was not a good choice. Way too much noise and activity for that time of day. That's why I think your longer stay is a great idea, and the Poly is such a wonderful resort. Just being in the pool at night and seeing the castle illuminated is so magical! My son also loved spending lots of time at Innoventions at Epcot (like, hours!), as he loves technology and computers. It was a good learning experience for a controlling mom to just let go and let it happen! Have a wonderful trip!

I just wanted to tell you that this is a terrific post! If I was a moderator I'd put on a sticky. Those darn kids teach us things all the time, don't they?

At least one of our annual trips is usually Resort only. Often we choose the POLY for this type of trip. (In fact we have 4 rooms at the POLY this July for 12 nights, taking our DD's and friends and family. My DW and I will spend the majority of this time at the resort and DTD, running, swimming, shopping, reading and simply relaxing)

Have a great time! :thumbsup2

Absolutely not Nuts:lmao: During our spring and summer vacation at the World we stay no less than 10 days. You will love it! Have fun!
