I will be going to US/IOA and staying at Portofino Bay in a couple of weeks with my sister and niece and nephew. My niece is 2 will not require a ticket. However, I was wondering when we use our express pass on rides she can go on will she need to show her room key as well or will mine or my sisters do?

Thank you!!! :)

Since she won't have a park ticket, I highly doubt they will ask for her EP...yours should be sufficient.

Just make sure you ask at the front desk, just in case. I've heard conflicting opinions. I've also heard conflicting opinions about kids under 3 needing to show their KTTW for EMH. Better safe than sorry.

Oh and you don't show room keys any more for express. You get a special express card with your photo on it that must be shown. This is done at a kiosk at the hotel.

I haven't stayed onsite at Univeral, but Dh and I bought Express Pass during our trip last year. Our DD was 1, did not requrie a ticket and we didn't buy an express pass for her. On all the rides she could ride, we had no issue taking her with us through the Express Pass entrance.

The hotel express and the purchased express are different passes. The hotel express requires you to get your photo taken and a special photo card is issued. One reason the hotel express may require everyone to get a card is to eliminate people trying to have 6 people in a room which is against fire requlations.

Ok. The last time I stayed onsight, which was a couple of years ago, they did not put pictures on them.

THANKS!!!

CANT WAIT!!!:cool1:

I haven't found a more recent post on this and was just curious if it still works the same. Some of our group is staying on-site (room maxed out) and some, including a toddler, are staying at Disney. Across the group there will be a combination of hotel UE and purchased UE, but I wasn't planning on purchasing one for the toddler given that he does not need a ticket. Thoughts?

first time I took GD for stay @ PBH, she didn't require a park ticket. However, I was told she needed to be placed on the reservation as an occupant and she required her own photo card.

That makes sense to me, but the toddler is NOT staying on-site. Basically these are two groups meeting up to tour the parks together. Thanks

the TMs scanned all our photo cards, even my GDs for the attractions she could ride.

no idea if we would've been turned away if she didn't posses one.

Why not call ticketing and ask this specific question?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have not found calling Universal particularly helpful in the past, but I will give it another try.

for the toddler type of rides such as what you find in the play area near ET, express passes are checked as keishashadow stated above.
the toddler would need the room key to have the ep made if child was going to do that line.

do check the height restrictions on the rides to make sure the toddler will be able to do certain rides.

when someone states toddler, it could be any age.
what comes to my mind is 1 year old when i hear toddler used.
so, i'm not sure what the age of the child is we are talking about.

To clarify/simplify,
Parent and two-year-old staying off-site. Parent will purchase an Express Pass for the day. Does the two-year-old need one to use the Express Pass line for attractions that he is tall enough to ride, like ET?

I called ticketing and was redirected to 407-224-4233, opt. 3. I was told that if a child does not need a ticket, he does not need an Express Pass.

That said, I am glad I asked on here. It sounds like Team Members will expect us to show something for the child if he is in the middle of a group showing on-site cards/keys. I will make sure that the off-site guests are at the front of our group to avoid that confusion. Thanks!

I'd definitely double-check, but in my view, it makes absolutely no sense for a toddler to have to obtain a separate EP when the park has determined that they are too young to even require a ticket for admission.

My assumption would be that since they are just considered an extension of the ticket holding accompanying adult - that they would also be considered an extension of the adult that has the EP.
