Greetings World! I feel funny joining Disboards and having my first post be about Universal Studios, but here goes.

We are planning a DCL cruise next summer out of PC and plan on visiting Universal Studios for 2 or 3 days b/4 our cruise. We have been to DLR and WDW several times, but have never visited Universal Studios.

Here is my question. We will be visiting Universal Studios during the first week of June, mid-week, should we buy the express pass? Do the crowds during that time of year warrant the extra expense?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you considered staying onsite? If you stay at one of the three deluxe hotels the express pass is included from the moment you do the checkin process to park closing on checkout day, and it is unlimited.

Thanks for your response. However, those hotels are very expensive. What I'm looking for is how necessary the express pass is during this time of year.

If we stay on site would we get the express pass for every day we are at US and IOA? Can express pass be used multiple times on the same attraction?

Thanks!

If you stay one night at the three deluxe hotels you would get 2 full days of unlimited Express Pass. Obviously not at Cabana bay.

Awesome! Thanks! Based on your crystal ball :) do you think this would be the way to go for mid-week early June 2015? Can you tell I like to plan ahead? :)

It's way too early to guess but summer is always busy and who knows if Universal will have a new attraction that will be ready by then.

::yes:: ::yes::

But, I would always recommend staying in the hotels anyway. They are all beautiful and the Express Pass is worth it's weight in gold :thumbsup2

We have gone the first week in June, and it was pretty crowded. That was in 2010 when the original HP area was supposed to open that summer, and did officially open about 2 weeks later. I think many people planned their vacations in June that year planning to see the WWoHP.

This year the DA portion HP is supposed to open in the summer, so I am guessing that the same thing will happen. People will plan vacations to see the new DA, and it will be crowded.

Price out the cost of EPs for your party vs the cost of one night at one of the 3 deluxe resorts and see if you might come out ahead. Purchase EPs are good for one time per ride, resorts guest EPs are unlimited.
