Express Pass- How do they know?

If you have already used your Pass on a particular ride?

I am just curiouis.

I know for HHN express they take your little ticket. I would assume it would be the same for during the day.

They scan your ticket. This applies to both the parks during the day and during HHN.

Sometimes they may not scan your ticket, so they won't know whether or not you have used your Express Pass for that ride on that day.

I've seen them initialing things too.

Sometimes they scan the pass. Other times, they initial the express pass. It just depends if they have the scanner working at the ride or not.
