Express Pass Disappointment

The way Disney handles fast pass is why I no longer go also, and I do miss it, but the wait time in standby was horrible.

I prefer the way Universal handles it and my rule of thumb is I expect to wait 25% of the time standby line is listed at. It is usually no more than 20 min, which is totally acceptable to me. (unless there was something to hold up the line like a break down of course)

I think the 50% person was mistaken. I have used it way too much and never found anything like 50% wait time.

I was there Thanksgiving week. Never had a problem. I can't remember doing it at Christmas/new years before, so if I go then, I may need to expect longer EP line waits. Which will be fine. Having it beats the heck out of not having it.
I have heard the 50% rule too. I have waited 30-40 min. for Gringotts in August and October, not every time but it happens. Waits were super short for HHN express on 10/11. All still acceptable to me. I dislike FP plus, it does make the Standby lines awful.

Isn't it just that EP will wait less than Stand by? Whatever the wait is? As long as EP isn't waiting longer than Stand By I'm not sure what complaint there could be

OT but, I am not wrapping my head around dumping Disney totally because of FP+, just because stand by lines are longer. FP+ is free so it costs nothing to use it. Totally possible to go to Disney and never step foot in a stand by line and pay nothing extra (or even pay to stay in a specific hotel). I could agree if FP+ costs you something. I mean, I do like EP best but do realize why it wouldn't ever work at Disney. They sell out of the passes every single day. All in all, usage wise, I find them identical with almost identical waits. Only major difference is planning/reserving times.

The complaint is if you’re spending what to many is quite a lot of money but still have longish waits. I’m OK with 40 minutes for Despicable Me and Gringotts in Express on very busy days, but I’d be none too happy if a lot more rides had that kind of wait.

Makes sense. I guess it all just depends on HOW long the standby is. If standby is 4 hours then a 20 min EP wait may be rarer than if standby is 1 hour. No? A least that's how I view it.
