Hi!

I was wondering. We have just booked our plane tickets for a direct flight back home after the cruise but it's at 9:00 PM.

Since my MIL and FIL are over 65 yo and sometimes need to take a nap in the afternoon, we decided to book a room at the All-Star Movies so we have a place to crash (change clothes/swim/shower/nap) during that day.

We are expecting to get in the Magical Express around 5:00 PM. We are not sleeping over there (unless our flight is cancelled)...

If we use the Express Check-Out, are we going to get to our WDW hotel earlier?

Should we just wait for the normal check-out?

We are first seating for dinner so we are most likely going to be the first to get off the ship when they start the normal process...

We would like to take advantage of the resort for as long we can especially since we won't be sleeping there. (I did check non-disney airport hotels and a WDW resort was still the best value).

We plan on check the "Get a room as soon as possible" option when we do the Early Check-In.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:
Thank you all so very much. I have called and have been able to book a day stay at the Hyatt. It was less expensive than ASM!

It's not going to be the Disney magic but we'll avoid a lot of transportation by using only the shuttle from PC to the airport and we won't have to rush our departure with the Express check-out.

What a relief!!!

The buses to the resorts don't start leaving the port until 9:00 now. So the earliest you'd be at your resort would be around 10:00. Could be later, if your bus makes more than one stop.

There is also no guarantee that you will be able to access your room before 4pm. You can check in as soon as you get there, but a room may not be available.

Have you thought about booking a day room at the Hyatt MCO? Costs would be similar, and you'd only have the one bus trip to the airport (instead of port to WDW and WDW to airport).

This. And with check-in not necessarily available before 3pm, you're looking at all of about 2 hours possibly that you would actually be IN the room.

I know there are no guarantees. But I've always done that and the latest we've never had a room was by 1:30 PM. The odds have always been in ou favors so I though it was worth taking the chance.

I thoughtabout it but all I have found is a "normal night rate" around 300$... Unless there is another type of rate I am not familiar with?

I know there is a risk.

If you are aware of another option who would give me a guaranteed bed, food options and pools I'm interested.

The only thing I have heard of is a day room at the Hyatt. I don't mind airports though, so I have never investigated it.

Not a big fan either but this is an exceptional situation that requires exceptional measures. :) I just want to be sure that my MIL and FIL are comfortable all day. :)

We've gotten into a Disney room early exactly once in several split stays since 2010.

And if you get to AS and the room isn't available until normal checkin time, will they be comfy?

Definitely call about the Hyatt day room. Best scenario.

I'm surprised. DH and I are usually staying in two to four (or five?) WDW per vacation (we are obsessed with split stays) and we've always had our rooms before 1:30... I guess we've been really lucky. I should buy lottery tickets. :P

Also, I believe the Hyatt has a very nice pool, although not the kids' playground that is a Disney pool.

Yes, Hyatt MCO is the best way to go. I stayed once only during the day, the fare is very good if not staying for the night. The beds are incredible. On Disney resort no matter the time I get there they have never given me the room before 4pm.

Good! I love to hear reviews. My FIL and MIL (and possibly DH and I) will most likely need to nap.

How is the food? I know there is an option to eat over there. But there is a Chick-fil-A in the airport. :P

I recommend getting a day room at the Orlando airport Hyatt for "crashing" purposes, rather than going all the way to WDW to crash at a value resort, which would entail waiting there for your room to be ready, then leaving after a few hours to catch another long bus ride back to the airport. Yuck. A Hyatt day room will be much more convenient, comfortable, and possibly not more expensive. It has a pool, good restaurants, spacious rooms, and places where you can view the airport runways.
