Explosions at the finish-line of the Boston Marathon

I've been thinking this exact thought all morning...I've been on a "break" with running since PHM trying to nurse my back and feet back to pain-free but all I can think about today is finding something to register for. This was obviously a topic in my bootcamp class last night, we've all kind of become runners together which has been really fun to watch happen...now we're all looking for something fun and local to sign up for together...I hope something like this catches on. And I've also been wondering how do we ask family/friends to come out and support us on race courses now? I know mine will be there for me regardless, but that'll just be something else on my mind now :sad2:

Me too. I posted on Facebook today about signing up for races and one of my friends who has been saying she wanted to do a race for 3 years now signed up for her first 5k this morning.

I've got 4 races over the next 3 weekends and hope they are all packed. I anticipate seeing a lot of blue and yellow.

I got the exact opposite yesterday. The first text I got from my girlfriend after she found out was "Now you HAVE to qualify and race Boston".

Not as awesome as qualifying, but good chance I'll be a charity runner for 2014.

Trying now to get a group together for this tomorrow...check it out and share it with your friends if you're looking for something to do to show your support!

My DH informed me for those of us in the South Florida area. There's going to be a 5k run tonight in the Miami Brickell area in support for those in Boston. "The event is free and open to everyone. Organizers are asking that the runners wear white or past running event shirts. Special Boston Marathon mock bibs are being made as well for runners to wear." Walkers are also welcomed! They are expecting well over a thousand runners. Come show your support tonight!

I put my 2013 Donald on too.

I don't really like to participate in public displays like this. I'm more of a "moment of silence" person then a "show of solidarity" person. Mainly because tragedy and violence are awful wherever it happens. Who am I to decide what is tragic enough to wear my grief on my sleeve? (NOTE: Everyone grieves differently and is free to grieve as they see fit. I don't question anyone's motives. All I can do is explain my own feelings and why my grief manifests this way.)

What makes this different for me is the fact that I never EVER want someone to be afraid of running a race or cheering because if this. Never. When it comes to running, nothing bothers me more than when your race is sabotaged by someone else.
