Explain this please!

Okay....we currently have a ressie for VGC that uses 104 points. Some from 2010, some from 2011.

If we cancel that ressie and rebook at WDW instead b/c our plans have changed, do I lose my 2010 points? I'd be within 30 days so we're not talking holding accounts or anything.

This kind of stuff hurts my brain.

What is your use year and what is the date of stay? It depends if the points are borrowed, current, banked.

I think we need a little more information. What month is your Use Year? Did you bank 2010 points into 2011 or borrow 2011 points into 2010 UY? Or did your reservation at VGC span 2 use years (like if you were Feb UY and your reservation was end of January through the beginning of Feb)?

Without more details, it is a bit hard to tell. You have to cancel that trip more than 31 days out to avoid holding.

Once you cancel and want to rebook, everything will be based on your new dates of travel.

Without knowing your UY, there is no way to know what will happen to those points.

For example, if you borrowed 2011 UY points into the 2010 UY for that trip, they will remain in the 2010 UY and you will have to travel before that UY ends.

Our current dates are June 3 and June 4 of this year at VGC. We'd like to change it to June 28-July 1 of this year at AKV.

You should still be able to use all those points for the new trip. Both take place in your 2011 UY, so you can used banked 2010 UY and the 2011 UY points.

As long as you change more than 31 days out, there will be no issues with holding points.

Your vacation is June 2011 so it would seem that you booked with banked UY March 2010 points and UY 2011 points. You wouldn't have borrowed anything from 2011 because you are traveling in that UY. Otherwise if you did not bank 2010 you are using UY 2011 and borrowing 2012 points. Either way as long as you reschedule it 31+days out you will be fine.
