Explain Free Dining To Me Please...

I've done free dining before (upgraded and all) but this time around (if they offer it) I have an AP that I'd like to use. It expires Oct. 31st. I want to take my dad for a week or so. Sooo I need to purchase at LEAST a 2 day ticket for myself, correct? Do I have to get the no expiration option or will it be good years from now if I just don't use the ticket at all? Thanks in advance for the help... I'm assuming I'll have to call to book this trip since I can't find an option online to purchase one 7 day ticket and one 2 day ticket...

You will have to buy the minimum tickets for everyone in the room to get free dining (currently a 2 day base ticket). Unused tickets never expire, so you do not need to purchase the non-expiration option if you're not planning on using the ticket.

Everyone in the room has to have the same tickets. So you would buy a 2 day ticket for all, and then just upgrade at the parks anyone who needs a longer ticket for the trip.

I believe it was in May but most likely they'll offer again.

Would I be able to go ahead and book our hotel with tickets right now and then if they do offer free dining, go ahead and rebook it?

I have an AP (like I said) and I really hate to waste that... plus I have the TIW card which would help with drinks.

Does anyone know if you get a discount during the Food & Wine Festival on beverages in the booths with the TIW card?

There isn't a current general public free dining offer. All FD offers out now are PIN codes except the one for British guests and maybe Canadian guests. The last general public offer had to be booked by May 18. For free dining you need to purchase at least a 2 day base ticket for everyone in the room who is at least 3 years old. Doesn't matter if anyone has an AP, the ticket purchase requirement is not waived for free dining.

No, TIW discounts are not available on festival items.
