HEY!!!!!!

We are taking our two girls 6 & 9 to Epcot for the first time soon.
We'd like recs on restaurants. We don't mind paying.......

My guess is that the Coral Reef would be one to hit --- would lunch or dinner be better?

Also looking for recs on other great restaurants food & atmosphere-wise:

We can pretty much eat anything - but lamb & cabbage is not that appealing. What do you recommend????

Our favorite is Le Cellier in Canada. Wonderful cheese soup, caesar salad, filet and maple creme brulee. Definately get a PS because it is a popular place!!!

WE usually have our "big meal" at lunch time. We like Askershus in Norway and Chefs du France. Le Cellier is good, too. We ate at Coral Reef years ago, and were disappointed, but we'll probably try it again next trip. Their menu sounds yummy.

Our family loves Garden Grill. Good normal type food and you get characters also. It's one of the quieter character meals on-site. But depending on when you go, it might not be reopened yet. It is currently closed due to 'Soarin' coming in. I have heard a lot of people that have not been happy with Coral Cafe, if I remember correctly.
We also love LeCellier. So yummy!!

I can't think of too many ways to go wrong. Other than China I don't think you can make a mistake. The chefs preparing food at your table in Japan is entertaining and the food is good. Germany has a show along with a German buffet. We usually make sure to hit the Rose and Crown and Teppanyaki.

We love Biergarten ( there are many dishes w/o cabbage) and China. We had a great experience there. We are planning to try Le Cellier this trip and are really looking forward to it.

We like Coral Reef for lunch, especially if it is warm outside. Its a nice place to relax and cool off during the day. We also love San Angel for the same reasons and for lunch. Despite many bad reviews we have never had poor service or food in Italy and also enjoy it for lunch. Our favorite dinner spots would be Bistro de Paris or Rose and Crown.

Enjoy!

Rose & Crown gets our vote - it is a fun place and the food is pretty good; nothing spectacular, but good. The fish-n-chips are great and I love the citrus salad. The Coral Reef is great if you love seafood, but it is pricey. I would try lunch.

We didn't like Coral Reef - but that doesn't mean you won't. At Epcot, we like Le Cellier, Chefs de France, Alfredo's in Italy. Also love the Land Grille Room but I understand it's not in operation right now because they are building Soaring Over California. Your kids would have loved that.

Don't laugh, but we like the little fast food cantina outside the Mexico pavillion. I can't remember the name.

Also didn't like Coral Reef. Atmosphere was great. Food not so good, especially for the price. Also don't like the sit down restaurant in Mexico. Bad service, food not so great either. Enjoyed the counter service better. Food good, margaritas awesome. Italy is fun. Lunch is a good time, cheaper prices and fun atmosphere. I have also heard lots of great things about Canada.

Garden Grill hands down.....great catfish and all you can eat and characters

Recommending restaurants is easy but recommending one you may like is a different matter, since people vary not only is taste but expectations. Sometimes this is defined on their local restaurant experience or the ethnic variation cooking style practiced within their area.

Coral Reef Restaurant - not the freshest seafood and like any seafood restaurant it has the standard pricing. Last time I ordered a filet of Salmon and was served a Salmon steak. Most people eat here for the view and parties of four may even get a aquarium window seating. This is what we got during our last visit...very nice and fun for the kids. Lunch is priced lower than dinner and this directly relates to offerings and portion sizes.

Italy - mixed reviews, but consider there are 14 different ethnic cooking styles when it comes to Italian food. The main restaurant in this sector is from Rome and is a chain (NY, Rome, WDW). For some it hits the spot, but for others it totally misses. Seating is great if you get one of the side rooms, but noisy and crowed on the main floor. Even with PS you might wait a period of time that may surprise you. I never heard a child complain about the food here...mainly adults. Typically, very busy for dinner.

Japan - I would recommend Tempura Kiku and Matsunoma Lounge since they are unique and the lounge provides an excellent view of the lagoon. Tempura Kiku you sit down at a counter, served very quick and watch meals being prepared. Sort of like a lunch place you might find if you dined in Tokyo. The Teppenyaki is something we can get anyday back home, so we avoid this popular spot, but would note it may be very entertaining for your kids.

France - I would recommend any place within France's Worldshowcase. Chef de France is the best restaurant to select since it offers a childrens menu and caters to children. Excellent food and service. Also it has fewer bad reviews than other options. Great place for lunch or dinner.

Canada - well my wife is from Canada so we never have ate here, but we hear and have read a lot good things about LeCellier since it change its format from counter service to table service.

Mexico - San Angel Inn. You will read mixed reviews on this one too. We like the view more than the food, but the food experience depends on what you like and what you select. Most people appear to be surprised by the food since many people have not experienced with authentic Mexican food. Again, there are a variety of ethnic cooking styles in Mexico too creating controversy even among Mexican food lovers. The scenery is great, low level lighting to set the mood of a Mexican village in the late, cool (A/C) evening. Great pit stop for a lunch on a hot afternoon.

I guess this is enough, anyway since you are also catering to kids too, you might want to check out ther menus to see if they have items in their menus that agree with your kids.

I have two little girls 6 and 9. We ate at Teppanyaki and Coral Reef. They loved both places. I really cannot think of any other places that I would recommend. We also ate at Le Bistro. The kids liked it but not as much as Teppanyaki and Coral.

I have been to Epcot several times to eat with my children, here are the places they liked best (they are now 9 and 12):

SAI (Mexico) for lunch-sat by the water, chef very accomodating my DS's request to have his chicken quesadilla "unassembled" with ketchup!

LeCellier (canada) for lunch- if you go with kids you MUST order the kid's desserts, hands down they are the cutest I've ever seen and tasty. My kids still rave about the chocolate "moose" (it really looked like a cute moose) and the smore's with the marshmallow encrusted with sprinkles on a stick! Adults liked their lunch too!

Teppanyaki for dinner- it was a miserable rainy night and we had a great chef and nice table-mates. Food was very good, chef was better!

Garden Grille for lunch- another rainy day and boy were we grateful to have a PS. Food was pretty decent, characters were awesome and kids really liked the revolving concept.

We also ate at Rose and Crown, it was ok but wouldn't hurry back.

Nearby on Boardwalk, my kids LOVE ESPN club!

Have fun. Can you tell Epcot is my fav park?? :flower1:

PS. DH and I had adult meals at Marakkesh and Les Chefs, liked them both, plan to take kids to Marakkesh next trip.

There aren't many ways to go wrong in Epcot. If you are particularly catering to the kids you're probably right about Coral Reef...and I'd also suggest the Garden Grill. We've had wonderful servers and character interaction there.

We've also enjoyed Nine Dragons (China). I live in a town where you can get almost any ethnic cuisine known to man...and get it done well...except for Chinese. Nine Dragons fills our desire for decent Chinese food...but if you have very good Chinese food at home you might choose to skip it.

We recently had a bad experience for lunch at Mexico...the food just wasn't very good. I believe the dinner menu has better selections. I also find the dining area here to be a bit too dark...but it depends on where your table is positioned in regards to the light.

We love Le Cellier. My kids really liked Rose and Crown (well, we all did....my big kids are 4 and 9 and picky though) last month. Germany wasn't a huge hit with us....you really gotta love sausages and spaetzle and struedel...my dh liked it the most. The entertainment is fun...depends on your kids interests. Mine didn't really pay much attention to it.

Have a great trip and wonderful meals!

Did Biergarten for first time based on the good reviews, and I hate to say that I wasn't impressed. While the food was ok (that's being generous) and the service was decent, the presention of the actual buffet was awful. Nothing was refilled, almost empty/ or empty trays, everything just thrown onto the buffet line, no ice to keep things cold, nor heat lamps on to keep things warm. I could do a better buffet in my own kitchen. Plus it looked dirty.
