Experience with "travel with #"?

I just this morning (7 months) was able to move my parents reservation to be at AK-Kidani so they are now at the same resort with us .

The CM suggested that he transfer us to a different area and have a "travel with number" added to link the 2 reservations together so that when the resort is assigning units the week before they will put near each other if possible. The CM indicated that this internal # will take priority & replace putting in a request to be "near Smith reservation".

So I have our number, and no requests to that effect (I do have a request regarding 2nd fl near Rafiki elevator/pool area per child in wheelchair on 1 reservation).

Question - does anyone have any experience with how the "travel with" works out?

It sounds as if it functions similar to a grand gathering type thing, so the rooms are pre-assigned prior to arrival.

That is what I was told by MS. We had a Travel With number for our trip in Oct. (GV, 2 bedroom and 2 - 1 bedrooms). When I asked the difference between a Travel With number and a Grand Gathering number I was told that the GG number allows you to book the GG special events and a Travel With number does not.
