experience with multiple reservations at the same resort?

I'm starting to plan my trip for the Expedition Everest Challenge at the beginning of May. Right now I'm looking at arriving on Thursday and leaving on Monday.

For race participants there's a special rate of $95/night before tax at All Star Sports.

I also checked the rates online using the spring special offer and got
$85.60 for Thu
$101.60 for Fri
$101.60 for Sat
$85.60 for Sun
(all rates before tax)

I'm thinking about splitting the stay up into 3 separate reservations (Thu, Fri+Sat, Sun) so I can get the best possible rate for each night. I've done this before with 2 back-to-back reservations at the same resort and while I know Disney doesn't guarantee that I can stay in the same room it's worked out for me both times.

I'm just wondering if having 3 reservations complicates it a lot more compared to 2 reservations. Has anyone else done something like this?

It is actually a bit cheaper to just book all 4 nights at the spring offer rates...$93.60 avg per night.

I wouldn't mess with booking 3 separate reservations to save less than $20. Booking under the spring special for all 4 nights comes to $374.40 vs race participant rate 4 nights for $380 vs 2 nights @85.60/2 nights @95 for $361.20. The latter total is only $13.20 less than the spring offer and $18.80 less than the race participant rate. I would prefer to have just 1 reservation and be guaranteed to keep the same room, rather than take the chance of having to move in order to save $18.

Thanks for helping with the math there. I think I'm going to go ahead and book under the spring special to at least get a reservation locked in for now. But if my travel dates change I may still consider splitting into two reservations later.

You're welcome :goodvibes. That's a good idea to get something locked in at a low rate. Like you said, you could always change later ;).
