We just got back from a 5 night segmented trip. I just wanted to report that we had no issues whatsoever!

We were at BWV for 2 nights and did the QSDP for night 1. We did have to go down to get new keys the 2nd morning, but they all worked fine and so did our credits. We used the last of them up right around 11:00 pm without issue.

I was told that the reason we needed new keys was because we did not continue on a plan. I got the sense that if you do a segmented trip with different plans but with no break, getting the new keys might not be necessary.

We then moved to BLT for 3 nights, with the deluxe plan for night one and nothing for night two. Again, we did have to go down to get new keys the 2nd morning, but there were no issues with the keys working or the credits. The front desk even gave us different colored ones for the 2nd segment so it would be easy for everyone to know which had the meal credits.

All and all, it took about 5 minutes at each resort to get the new keys. Based on this, I would not hesitate to segment my trip next year in order to take advantage of it.

Great news! It's good to hear some positive segmented dining stories. Thanks for sharing.

We had an awful experience with segmented dining in May/June at KV. We had no trouble at all with segmented reservations on the same trip at BWV or BLT. We had the same segments as you at BWV and BLT - DDP for the first nights, and then no dining plan for the remaining nights at each resort. We did not even have to get new keys at either resort. The problem came in at Kidani Village, and it was because we had no dining plan the first night, QS the next few nights, and then regular TS the next few nights.

Some resorts can handle segmented reservations better than others - BWV and BLT can handle the segments. Per DVC member satisfaction, KV's computer system can't handle them as well right now.

I would still segment reservations also, but would just keep the segments very simple, and not segment at KV.

Thanks for the report:thumbsup2!

We are planning a segmented trip in June with 2 villas and 15 people so I'm glad to hear that at least one person has had smooth-sailing:boat:.

Thanks for the update....we segmented at BLT in may with no problems as well........we will be doing so in sept at BCV I hope to have no issues there too....in both cases we do the deluxe dining plan for the 1st night then none for the next 3

Please report back and let us know how it went. We're hoping to do segmented dining at BCV in the future. Thanks! Hope it goes well.

OP: When at BLT, did you have to go back to checkin at Contemporary or lobby of Bay Lake Tower to get new keys?

We DID have problems with our segmented plan at BLT May 26-30. We only had one day of dining, the second day was the DxDP and we had to get new keys and then still had problems all day long.

Will be there again in November and am wondering if it is worth segmenting for that trip.

We had to go to the front desk at CR. They did offer to deliver them but we got them ourselves because we had headed over to Contempo Cafe to pick up things for breakfast so it was just as easy.

I wonder if it had to do with the fact that your plan started on night 2. Ours was for the first night. Or, maybe they have since worked out more of the bugs and its working better now.

There is a post from someone who came back from BLT as well and had no issues.

If you liked what it had to offer you, I would say go for it!

We did a segmented trip last year and other than the inconvenience of missing out on park hours to check out/in and moving the luggage (or tipping the bellman) it was smooth. It's also a bit of a pain to pack up and unpack again in a new room but sometimes you have to do it to get some of what you want...

One thing I do to make this easier is to pack for each segment. I pack two different suitcases for the hotel. This way, I am in and out of one for the entire first resort and then in/out of the other one for the 2nd. It does make it a bit easier on move day.
