My daughter (19) and I did the video chat last night getting her DAS. We signed on at 5:35 p.m., got assigned an agent in the chat box around 6:45pm, and we were all the way through the questions and ready to do the video chat when the chat box froze or signed us out or something. It seemed to go through a cycle every 30 minutes of wanting to be refreshed, and I was able to get back to it every time fine EXCEPT the time when we were about to video chat. After about 15 minutes of trying everything I could, I finally got the chat box back up, and we were still signed in, BUT in the meantime the CM had said since we weren't responding, she would put us back in the queue. That was at 7:07pm and they close at 8pm. They warn you around 7pm that you might not get through that day and will have to call back another day. So we waited and my daughter wanted to give up, but at like 7:57 p.m., up pops a CM live on the chat, gets us into the video chat, approves my daughter for the DAS, takes her picture and then asks about what 2 rides she wants to sign up for as her "bonus passes." I knew she got to pick 2, but what I didn't know is that YOU GET TO PICK 2 FOR EVERY DAY OF YOUR TICKETS!!!!!! We have 5 day hoppers, so she got to pick 10 passes! And they don't affect the ability to make the reservations while in the park! The CM was amazing and patient with us, but I wish I would have known it was 2 PER DAY. We got them all picked, she said we were good to go, asked if we had any other questions, and I just started to ask one when the entire chat just ended with a poof! It was 8:10pm, which may be the cut off for the night? I felt bad that I didn't get to thank her or 'rate' her, so I sent an e-mail to the disability e-mail address.

Despite the wait (about 2 1/2 hours total), I am so thankful to get this done before our trip! I love the fact that they are offering this service ahead of time.

Just wanted to spread the word to be prepared that if you qualify for DAS, you get 2 reservations ahead of time per day.

They also did ask if she has had a DAS before, which we said yes, although it was 2019 and not showing in the system. That wasn't an automatic yes for a DAS, but she did ask.

Hope that helps someone! :-)

We called Friday. I think I was a day early because he wasn’t able to book our 2 passes. I called Saturday and she booked my first day’s 2 passes. She was immediately curt, which it’s crazy you can tell from text. She didn’t want to allow me to book Guardians because one of the DAS holders is an infant. Nope, it’s my ticketed child although we have an infant in our party. 🙄 She responded with “I booked your rides. Have a magical day.“ and cut me off. ‼️ I stayed in the chat and the next person helped me. All in all the 2 days took 7 hours. I hope it wasn’t a waste of time.

The times for the passes we were offered for each ride are 10, 12 or 5. If another party has booked 10, you will be assigned 10:30. We have 2 DAS on my account. We were booked in at 10/10:30. 12/12:30, etc. taking up 2 slots.

One thing I learned in a Facebook group is that you can DAS at TSA. But it’s called TSA cares. I did that online and I’m happy to have it set up.

We don't see the need to register in advance for DAS. We just walked up to a Cast Member at guest services at Hollywood Studios and it took him about 2 minutes to setup DAS for us. We had to wait about5 minutes at Disneyland when they set it up for us there.

Much better and easier process and less stressful if it's a child then a video chat

Yes, I know there is info on website and here, but thought I would share my experience. I'm sorry your CM wasn't very friendly. Ours was amazing, and it was right as the time was going to end for the night.

Can you explain more about TSA cares please?

Be aware that some airports are better than others.

That said, I have never felt a need to pre-register with TSA. You can request all of the same accommodations at the time you arrive.

In my experience, at several airports throughout the western US, the TSA agents have always been super helpful when I’ve politely requested any accommodations, such as not removing my knee brace because it’s difficult to get it comfortable again, or the time I was traveling alone and was just too unsteady on my feet to walk thru the scanner and they let me stay in my wheelchair and get thoroughly patted down and swabbed. Even when I had my leg in a fracture boot, and I asked if there was any way they could let me keep my one shoe on so I wouldn’t slip, they said they’d let me go thru and while I was sitting on the other side getting the boot swabbed they’d put my shoe thru then.

Ymmv, but I think if you are kind and polite, they will do whatever they can to accommodate your needs whilst still doing what they need to do in order to keep us all safe.
